While the room and beds were nice, there was a significant musty smell that never went away. it is a good price for the location, just a couple short blocks to the beach. Note that there is a $15 per day charge for parking at the garage across the street. The pool and hot tub are nice, but both are very small, andbecause the area is surrounded by tall buildings the pool may not get many hours of direct sunlight.

We thought we had forgot our phone chargers and my husband went down to the front desk to ask where an AT'T store was. An older gentleman at the front desk gave him charger to take with us on the cruise and said to bring back after the cruise. How nice was that!!! The room was clean. No carpet, but I think there would be less germs this way. Good location. Across the street from the beach. Catch a bus about a block away for 75 cents to Old San Juan. Surprised that the breakfast had omelets. Very good.

The Holiday Inn Express in the Condado district of San Juan was just what I was looking for. Typical of HI Express properties in urban settings: compact, reasonably priced, well-run. The room was small but clean and modern, with the usual amenities for this chain: free breakfast, cable flat screen TV, free wifi, coffee maker, etc. The hotel has a tiny pool and a hot tub. What I liked most, though, was its proximity to the beach and a little park (only one block away). It's in the nice Condado district, which has lots of restaurants, shops, etc. A 75 cent bus ride from San Juan's Old Town and close (a mile or two) to the Pan American Pier where the cruise ships are. Not a 5-star, but perfect for a short stay.

We stayed here pre-cruise. The price was right and the breakfast was a bonus. The breakfast was typical fare...danish, muffin, egg sandwiches etc. The pool are was nice. The rooms were small and a bit dated. Short walk to the beach and area restaurants. Would stay again pre or post cruise. I would not want to stay for a long period of time.
