We stayed in Casa del Caribe for seven nights in February and enjoyed it a lot. The location is very convenient, couple blocks away from the beach, short walk to the local bus stop (the city buses are air-conditioned, clean, 15 minutes away from Old San Juan).
From the first minutes of our arrival Ed, who is a manger in the hotel made us feel comfortable and welcomed. There was a bigger room available that week and Ed kindly offered it to us which was extremely nice of him; he gave us great advices regarding places to see in town and outside of San Juan, where to eat, introduced Puerto Rican culture and food. On the Super Bowl night Ed installed a projector (very good quality) and we had a nice little party with everybody else in the hotel watching the game. On the other nights he offers watching movies in the green and cozy courtyard even on his after work hours. All this creates a very warm and friendly atmosphere in the hotel. You will also have an access to two sister hotels, one has a beautiful big Jacuzzi, another one has a nice swimming pool.
If you want to see the Rain Forest and Camuy Cave Park, there is no need to take a tour which is pricey. There is a car rental Charlie’s around the corner and both destinations are easy to reach.
Considering the price of other hotels in Condado Beach Casa del Caribe is a very reasonable place to stay.

We stayed at Casa del Caribe Jan. 2012. It is a charming place that does not look like much from the street but is a surprise when entering courtyard. The building is small, old and is being restored by a very capable manager. (He was very helpful and friendly.) Our room was spacious, clean and had lots of storage. We had meals (breakfast provided) and others brought by us to the patio. It was peaceful and pretty with small water element, coquis singing in the trees and lush plants all around. Very peaceful after a day in the city. Good bus transport around city from this location and it is walkable but long walk. Plans include putting a TV in patio area. Hope that does not spoil charm. All in all very pleasant experience. Many big thanks.

Behind the lighted wall in Calle Caribe lie the rich gardens of Casa Caribe. One block from the beach and only 50m away from the heaving nightlife on Ashford Avenue!
Excellent service, comfortable and clean rooms, chilly atmosphere.
Stayed there a lot longer than expected.
One night, Dutch manager Ed played the "Rum Diaries" for us on a beamer, great!!!
