“Great Locations for a few days in San Juan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My wife and I stayed for a few nights before heading to Culebra and really enjoyed our stay. Beds were very comfortable, big tv, but no fridge in room and carpets could use a cleaning. Besides that everything was great. Location was perfect, short walk to everything in Old San Juan, good burger restaurant in hotel. It is located right across from were the cruises dock, but its never really an inconvenience. There is a CVS with everything you need just 1 min walk down the road. Pool area was a bit small, but GYM was brand new and barely anybody using it. Overall great stay.

we stayed 3 days, the room smelled bad, we had a room for the interior ... received poor service from the maid, there was much noise in the hall employees, the very small pool, no beach nearby, definitely not recommend this hotel.

“Not bad for a few nights stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We just stayed here for three nights, got back yesterday. The rooms are average, clean. We had an interior room so the view was of an interior courtyard, nothing to look at. The beds are great. The front desk friendly. It is a smoke free casino, not sure why someone said it smelled like smoke. The pool is on the ninth floor, and very small. It gets crowded quickly. This hotel is great if you want to shop in Old San Juan. We rented a car so we were out and about most of the time. If you are into all the amenities like big spa, large lounges, close to beach etc-- then this isn't for you. You would be better off in Isla Verde or Condado area. Condado is close to Louis Vuitton and other high end shops. The place to stay would be La Concha. I have no complaints about this hotel, our stay worked out great.

“Nice hotel if you don't care about a pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Clean hotel, large rooms, free Starbucks coffee, super soft beds, modern decor, close many cruise ships and attractions. The downside? A crazy small pool with very limited seating and shade. Great rooftop views but the pool but good luck finding a lounger. Overall, we had a nice stay here though for one night.

“Its in Old San Juan, its Central to life, its OK if cruising from this pier”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

If you are staying here because you are cruising check you are not on the Pan-Am pier which is $21 plus bags way at the other side. This Hotel is faded and although has a regular lick of paint requires an interior designer to give it something of character. The 3:00pm check in time is very inconvenient if getting off a ship and the queues on Cruises changeover days are unbelievable with very little pre-organisation and space for the regular event.
The Hotel is in a good position in the town centre for life on the street and with the bus station close and very handy for getting around although the drivers consider foreigner should use taxies and are not very obliging.
There is free wi-fi around reception and a couple of floors, with free computers to print boarding cards etc. which is good, the pool on top deck is sufficient but small with only a few chairs.
Staff overall were very friendly, but the breakfast staff only chase the tip, the hot-cold breakfast buffet which I included in my week stay was very poor by any hotel standard and tasteless, if you wanted eggs or even (bacon not served everyday) it was extra, marmalade and honey could only be found on day one, and once used it was not replaced. There was nothing in breakfast that would make me have dinner here although we did have burgers and a beer on the front terrace which were normal US fodder.
Would I stay here again, or recommend to a friend, NO. I would go out onto a beach hotel and catch the bus into town when I needed to visit.
Also beware of festivals, we hired a car without knowing about the Festival of San Sebastian, and for four days Old San Juan was shut off with lots of traffic jams and we could not get back to our hotel by car and had to park miles away and catch a bus to our own car, on return of the car (day early) to Charlie Rentals they refused to take us back to town as per contract due to traffic and after waiting 45mins for a bus that never arrived, we insisted that they could not leave us and they took as close as they could.
