This is our 6th time staying at the San Juan Marriott. The location and customer service are stellar. We will return next year. Richard at the beach always attending to our needs. Hector at the Ocean bar is a star employee. I have to also say that the newly renovated lobby is lovely.....but....the dancing girls at night have to go. This is not Las Vegas. It was cheesy and the girls had to make sure they didn't hit the low hanging chandeliers. It really turned us off to the night time atmosphere of this lovely bar.

Room Tip: Ocean view and the corner rooms are the best, of course. If you stay in the Cabana wing you have le...

“Beautiful Marriott!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Nicest Marriott in the chain. Beautiful rooms, great pool area and beach. Convenient location, 5 minutes from the airport. The Concierge was a little inexperienced but very helpful. The couple traveling with us had up on their room twice, being issued keys to rooms already occupied. After a little back and forth while the hotel worked to straighten it out, they were upgraded to Concierge level with a corner room. We're planning to go back. Be sure to visit Old Town (during the day) and the Fort.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room, very airy and bright.

“7th Time There”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Contrary to some of the reviews I have read concerning the experiences others claimed to have we have traveled to Puerto Rico nine (9) times for long weekends and find ourselves always going back to the Marriott San Juan. And we will be back!

The customer service has always been superb! Sonny from the hotels restaurant La Vista was great. Every morning he was there he came over to great us, ask us how we were enjoying our stay and hen he was our server knew exactly what we wanted.

I know it can be frustrating when the front desk is inundated with check-ins and outs, however, Sunday afternoon there were four tour buses at the hotel to pick up cruise ship passengers to take them to the boat (this should help explain the crowds). But, it seems to me. the staff at the hotel do there best to accommodate everyone. Our flight didn't leave for home till 7:30 pm and when I called to request a late check-out I was given a time...I asked for more and was given it...NO CHARGE!

I know many people have discussed the food at the hotel...we never eat there except for breakfast, not because the food is bad, but because there are many EXCELLENT restaurants in the area. There is Di Parma at the little park area (shhh...next to the la Concha Hotel) Di Zucchero's across the street from the Marriott and of course Ummo Argentinian Grille...why eat hotel food???

I know many people will probably not read this review as most are interested in the negative comments. I cannot say that I have not had issues with stays at the hotel...personally I don't remember them as they were minor and insignificant. If you have an opportunity to stay in San Juan, please try the Marriott, you'll like it.

A note: Another time at the Marriott during Hurricane/Tropical Storm Earl and the staff at the hotel could not have attentive. The tried to make the guests feel comfortable even though a sever storm was approaching. Put into perspective, the hotel was boarding up areas of the outside to help prevent damage to the structure...they had organized activities for the kids and families and kept the restaurants open to create a sense of comfort for the guests....

Room Tip: if budget allows request a large corner room facing the pool and beach

“great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We really enjoyed the flag up, but it didn't keep anyone out of the water. We rented a boogie board and had a blast. There were guys on the beach who would bring you chairs and set up your umbrella for no charge (except tip). The pool was fun and had a small water slide my kids enjoyed. The staff was attentive. The rooms were clean and well taken care of. The casino was small (nothing compared to Vegas) but we weren't there to gamble so it wasn't a problem. There was your choice of restaurants within walking distance both fast food and sit down. We really enjoyed the pizza place just down the street. We walked the beach for quite a ways. Another fun thing we did besides old town, was go to the rainforest. They had great family hikes, and especially one to a waterfall. So make sure you don't miss it. We just rented a car for the day and had a good time!

“Excellent service- Great Hotel”

Stayed here last in November 2009. I was working and brought my wife. We had a great time. The rooms are comfortable. Breakfast buffet is nice. The beach is fantastic, maybe the best in San Juan. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel that takes you into Old San Juan. There is not much of a schedule for the bus, but it is cheap and not difficult to figure out. This place is expensive, so if you can find a good deal spoil yourself and stay here. For me the higher nightly rate is justified with the service and great location. The Casio is typical and sometimes the lounge features live music. There are dining options within walking distance of the hotel that are reasonable and even a Walgreens nearby. I would not want to stay anywhere else when visiting San Juan
