We took advantage of a Hotel Package, and visited over the last Thanksgiving Holiday. We were more than pleased. Very lovely property, exceptionally clean, with two wonderful places for dinner. The afternoon 'happy hour' provided a chance to meet other guests, have a glass of wine pre dinner, and hear other travel stories. The small pool located at the property provided plenty of sun, and a welcome place to just unwind from the colder weather we had left behind.
Just spent 2 nights (pre-cruise) in Room 409. Beautifully decorated, with two double beds & windows opening over the bay. Because of construction in atrium, we were given compensation for breakfast. And are the breakfasts terrific. The personnel are warm & welcoming and help you to navigate to restaurants and sites to explore. Lunch at the tapas restaurant was well-proportioned and service fast (the construction was halted during lunch so that noise wasn't a factor). All sites in Old San Juan are walking distance from this hotel. Very highly recommended for small, intimate, boutique hotels!
We stayed there in late January. The room on the fourth floor was very nice, clean with a beautiful view on the harbor. Service was impeccable. The location in the old San Juan made it easy to walk and sightsee. A plus was the double door that completely isolated the bedroom from noise in the patio. The terraces enabled us to benefit from the winds and the view. We were, however, unimpressed with breakfast at the hotel, which was expensive and unimaginative. Otherwise, beautiful historical hotel.
My review is super late but I just could not go without writing a review. We were married at El Convento. The facilities were amazing. We were looking for something traditional historical and their main ballroom fit the bill with their checkerboard floors and mural ceilings. We had cocktails on the patio and our guests were greeted with their signature white sangria and mini Puerto Rican fritters. yum! The main course was also delish. The service was excellent from planning to execution. Our ceremony was actually held outside en la Plaza Rogativa which was down the block but that was a perfect choice. We were given the honeymoon suite for the night. The room was like stepping into the past had a lot of charm. The rooms do face out to Old San Juan which could be a bit noisy at times. If you would like host your wedding our stay in the middle of old San Juan and experience the old charm of Puerto Rico this place is for you!
