Terrible, terrible hotel. Dark, windowless rooms with very noisy air conditioners. Broken toilets, shower doors that do not close completely. Unhelpful and rude reception staff who lack the basic skills on how to deal with customers.

The only thing going for the hotel is the location by Plaza de Armas but Old San Juan is small and you are better off staying in other hotels.

The hotel is located in an excellent area in the Old San Juan. The house is a very old structrure, very clean. We stayed in room 304 because we wanted a balcony. The room was very comfortable, enough space for my boyfriend & me. I only stay for one night, but next time I visit the area will definitelly stay longer. The price was right and if you compare it with other others in the area is exellent!. We didn't use the restaurant, since there were plenty of alternative around the hotel. In front of the hotel there is plaza with kiosk, taxi stop, a pharmacy and even a Marshall (just in case you forgot something at home). If you are taking a cruise from San Juan, this is a perfect hotel for before or after your cruise. The staff is not very friendly but we really didn't need anything from them. I think if you are looking for a luxury hotel and you are willing to pay the price for it, them you can stay in a different one. Old San Juan is a very old city and the structures are 100 of years old, you should not expect the same as when you visit Spain or any old country. My boyfriend and I felt very safe as we walked from shop to shop. Fabulous time!

I have read many reviews about this hotel before deciding to stay here for one night before the cruise. The hotel is in a central location in old San Juan, I know I shouldn't expect much based on other reviews, but it was worse than I expected. There was no wait to check-in since we were the only guests in the lobby. The elevator didn't work, we had to drag our luggages all the way up four floors! The ice machine also didn't work. The front desk staff didn't seem to care, she was on the phone for a very very long time. If you have to stay in old San Juan, this hotel has the best location, be prepared to walk up and down the stairs, I have the impression that the elevator doesn;t work most of the time! The restaurant in the hotel( actually doesn't belong to the hotel) is about the only good thing beside the location of this hotel.

We stayed here for two nights before our cruise (February 2008-sorry date list didn't include this date). At first I was concerned with the lack of windows, but it wasn't a problem. The room was clean, the staff friendly and helpful, the continental breakfast was plentiful and had a great assortment. The location was amazing! We often sat in the town square which is soooo close and drank coffee and people watched. We felt very safe as we walked from shop to shop. Fabulous time! Looking forward to returning!
