“Good Overnight Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We stayed at VH for one night prior to a cruise. The decor was lovely and the room was clean. Since the hotel is in the heart of Old San Juan, we were able to walk to shops, restaurants and historic sites. Hotel staff was helpful. Breakfast was adequate as others have noted. The only minor "issue" was with the shower in our bathroom. While beautifully decorated the shower offers no shelf or ledge on which to place soap and other toiletries. I would stay again.

“Gem of a Hotel”

I stayed for only one night at Villa Herencia, but it was a perfectly enjoyable experience. I arrive early, before normal check-in and was told that my room was almost ready. After a 5 minute wait in the lovely downstairs sitting room, my room was ready. I had the king room on the rooftop, with a lovely view of the terrace. All the rooms are nicely appointed and have great details, like original artwork on the walls, interesting tiled floors and beautiful textiles on the beds.

The staff couldn't have been nicer. They suggested good off-the-beaten path resturants to try, and the perfect place to watch the sunset. You can tell immediately when a hotel differentiates itself on service, and this hotel certainly does.

The location was ideal, on a quiet street right off a beautiful plaza, and walking distance to everything in Old San Juan.

Thank you for a fantastic stay. . .I am already planning my next visit!

“Charming but noisy in the am”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

We stayed here for one night this past Labor Day weekend. Staff is nice. They held our luggage for us at checkout while we grabbed lunch. Common rooms were beautifully decorated. Coffee, juice, and toast for breakfast. There was a small courtyard in the middle of all the rooms. Room is small but fine for the price. Large shower with hot water. Unfortunately i was awakened early in the morning to people talking in the courtyard. Also, i kept thinking that I could hear people taking a shower right next door. On hindsight, i think I was hearing the fountain in the courtyard. Maybe the fountain was there for the white noise. Bring your ear plugs.
I would definitely return to Puerto Rico but not neccessarily to Villa Herencia. Bring your National Park Pass to the Fort in Old San Juan to save a few dollars.

We were charmed by this small hotel tucked away just a block or two from the gate in Old San Juan. Streets strewn with red flowers and birds chirping in the early morning were what I saw and heard when I shot this footage

“Lovely hotel - but smaller than expected rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Service here was great and we loved that it was off the beaten path (close enough to walk everywhere but quiet since it is closer to where people live). The rooftop deck was amazing with nice views and a great place to just hang out. We didn't try the outdoor bathtubs but they looked fun!

The rooms themselves are quite small but very unique. Each room was different with different beds, chandeliers, and other old meets new architectural details which we loved. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for the room upstairs - it has direct door access to the rooftop deck. FYI - the hotel only...
