“Perfect introduction to JA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

I visited JA for the first time 8/11 and didn't do any advance planning other than to reserve a couple of days at Zion Country. Zion Country was the ideal location for relaxation, exploration of the natural world and all-round enjoyment! I ended up spending the entire week at Zion Country. Owen, Tamar and Free-I are great, helpful people who want to help provide you a great vacation. The beauty of the region is spectacular.

Room Tip: The main rooms are cabins in a wonderfully landscaped garden. You can't go wrong. There are al...

“Discover the real Jamaica!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

We stayed at Zion Country for one week in the beginning of August.
The east of Jamaica is very beautiful and if you intend to go there Zion Country is the guesthouse to stay!
It has a beautiful garden and if you walk down the stairs the sea is there for you to enjoy!
There are cabins at sea level, but we stayed in a room connected to the main buiding, which has a nice private bathroom and toilet.
The guesthouse is situated in nice calm surroundings, and Reach Falls is a must see, ask for the tour with local guide Renny!!!!
Free-I the owner is very nice and helpful. He takes good care of his garden, the guesthouse and his guests. He is very helpful in pointing you the way around and willing to help with anything you want to know. We were there during national holidays, and thanks to Free-I and Owen (such a wonderful, kind cook) we were able to celebrate Emancipation Day at Winnifred Beach with the locals, good food and good music. And we celebrated Independance Day in nearby Long Bay, which was a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Go to Zion Country if you want to discover the real Jamaica!!!! We know we will be back!!!
Thank you Free-I, Owen and Tamar!

“Peaceful and relaxing....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

Zion Country Cabins captures the theme of dedication to the Jamaician people and the landscape.
Having had to rebuild and begin again could have been daunting, but Free I overcame the hurdles to create a place for a peaceful respite. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, found an old wind surfing board and paddled around like kids reverting back to childhood pleasures. Owen took us on walking trip down his memory lane toward a local tournament where we met many wonderful, welcoming, and joyful Jamaicians. It was the highlight of our trip.

“once you go you know”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

I lived in Jamaica for five years, and spent a lot of time exploring the island with my kids. Portland parish was our favorite, and on this trip back to Jamaica after five years, I was looking to recapture a bit of that easy Jamaica vibe -- no all inclusives for me! The friendly staff, the simple accommodations, the beautiful surroundings, the proximity of the sea, the good food, made me feel like I was staying with good friends instead of an impersonal resort. Without all the distractions of a resort, we unplugged, relaxed, had great conversations, swam at sunup and counted the stars at night. Ahhhh. Bliss. don't change the formula Zion Country you made me feel all right! one love, y'all.

“4 visits and counting...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

I have travelled solo to Zion Country four times and am sure I will return again. It is very peaceful and pretty there and is definitely the place to go if you want a laid-back, non-touristy stay in Jamaica. You are in a real Jamaican community and can get a true feel for the country there. The accommodations are simple but clean and meals are good. If you like more action it may not be the place for you but if you are looking for a unique, no frills- but peaceful- stay Zion is a great choice.
