My boyfriend (since Jamaica, fiance!) went on a 2 week trip to Jamaica. We travelled from Mo'Bay to Treasure Beach, the Bob Marley Museum and one night in the Blue Mountains then headed to Port Antonio area. We wanted to find somewhere to stay for the final 8 nights of our holiday. We had read about this place and stopped in the car to check it out. As soon as we got there, we pretty much knew that the place would be difficult to beat. We fell in love with it from the outset. It is hard to beat staying on the blue lagoon and having a place which overlooks the sea and is only a couple of mins walk to the Lagoon itself (which is an amazing spot with turqouise water and jungle all around) was magical really and we felt very lucky to have found it.
We booked the biggest room in the place with an amazing sea view and a little side room attached where we could sit on the day bed in the day and read, looking out on to the sea and watching the humming birds feed from the bird feeder. It was so relaxing, which is what we needed after a hectic London life and busy 1st week in Jamaica sight seeing.
There is more rain in Port Antonio than other parts of Jamaica, but the place was so beautiful it didn't spoil our stay at all, the days it did rain; you just had to look into the sea and see the changing blue colours which was mesmerising ...
We were made to feel very at home by the staff, Marcus, the boat man and general guide and Donna, the house-keeper and cook and Miss Issa who worked on Saturdays in place of Donna. They all made us feel very welcome and at home. We could use the kitchen at our ease but had the luxury of an amazing cooked breakfast each morning. We'd suggest you go for the Jamaican breakfasts which were very yummy and substantial with things such as ackee and saltfish and local veggies, which my fiance had each day. I alternated with some local veggies plus the delicious french toast which we would also recommend highly!!
Marcus was always on call to answer our questions and to take us out in the villa's boat which you can do every day if you want. We explored the area a bit but went out twice on the boat with Marcus and saw some interesting things in the sea... 2 sting rays, a moray eel and other little fishies! We also went around the Blue Lagoon and took lots of nice photos as a good memoire. Marcus was extremely helpful in acting as a guide if you wanted and gave us an excellent incite into the local area including making sure we found what ever we needed, including good places to eat goat curry (which incidentally runs out early in the evening!)!
It was a very special stay for us, you had the benefit of your own space but benefit of being cooked breakfast for each morning and having the place cleaned for you. We highly recommend this place and loved the staff - thanks Marcus, Donna and Miss Issa (sorry if I have mispelled your name).
We hope to see you again and would definitely return for a visit when we return to Jamaica (which is an amazing country by the way - if you want to see the true Jamaica, not 5 star all inclusives, head here).
