“Good Service”

Good Service, decent but expensive food - except once, there was a fly in my soup, i did not bother to complain, the waiter had given such good service. Lobby - very good, rooms clean, but need updating, they have circular leopard print beads, yes as cheesy as it sounds it actually does not look that bad. I would stay here again. this hotel has real charm and personality, i recommend.

“Perfect Getaway”

Wow!!! This place is absolutely beautiful. I believe the word to describe it would be eccentric. My fiance and I were looking for the perfect getaway and we definitely found it here. Will definitely go back to visit. In fact we are thinking of having our wedding there. Their gardens are beautiful and would make a perfectscenic venue, and also found out they offered very reasonable wedding packages. If you are looking for some relaxation this is the place to go. Friendly and courteous staff, and the rooms were like no other hotel I have been to, really different. Also if you are interested in art they have a great art collection, we purchased a few items ourself. Will definitely be returning.

The hotel was wonderful, the staff were very heplful and friendly - Mr Fahmi the owner was hands on every day and helped with any difficult stuations that arose ie: doctor , hospital etc

Beautiful grounds and a great swimming pool :)

I can't think of any negatives relating to my visit except that i wish i had been on holiday and not working.

“Quiet and comfortable place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2010

We had a comfortable one night stay here; the place is undeniably a little odd, it was very quiet and empty, there are paintings covering every wall, huge sculputures in the entrance hall and caged birds around every corner. However the gardens are lovely, the pool fine and the rooms adequate. The first one we had smelt musty but we were moved without a fuss to a more calmly decorated room, still with semi circular bed though. Breakfast, which was excellent, was included in our discounted resident rates which made it very good value. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel is not far from the town, nor the excellent beaches at Frenchman's cove or San San.

We have just come back from our trip and had to write.... a friend recommended this hotel as they stayed here a couple of years back. We were a bit worried as the reviews written are a bit scathing .. .. not sure what that is all about. To start off the hotel is clean, but that should be a given its like saying the car we hired had wheels. The manager says they have had a complete revamp and it shows.

The hotel was lovely, the art work is amazing and they are all local artists. They are not all paintings some are metalwork, light sculptures and installations.
The hotel is a wonder to look at , its a treat to just walk around, sit at the rooftop garden and have candle lit drinks overlooking Portland. The rooftop looks like a scene from Alice in Wonderland.
This hotel is not for everyone, if you like a busy, all inclusive party environment then this is not for you, but if you like to stay somewhere adventurous and has a hint of a 1920 speakeasy throwback then this is the place for you.
Location wise its a bit out of the way if you want to walk into Port Antonio but a taxi is only $50-75 dollars away ( 50-70p). There are great restaurants in the area and failing that the hotel restaurant isn't that bad either, but maybe best for the special treat as you can get a bit too used to the silver service.

If you want to experience the old Jamaica a-la Ian Flemming this is the place - and if it gets all too much for you, San San Beach, Boston Jerk Town, Port Antonio, Reach Falls, Sommerset Falls, Blue Lagon.. are not that far away.
