“Good Place to stay if they have a room available!”

We had three families that went on the trip. All three of us booked a normal room on "Sunset on the Beach". We had called and confirmed that they have the 3 rooms before the travel. We get there and they didn't have all the rooms! Could be because of the holiday season?!!! But anyway, they offer one suite, one normal room and also another room in a near by hotel. I appreciate the extra effect that they showed in accommodating us but they were super disorganized. If they didn't have the availability the room shouldn't have even shown in the website for us to book (priceline.com).

Anyway, the suite was occupied by another family and this had the best view (room number 1000), the normal room was ok but not bad - no view of the sea but a short walk to the beach. We got to stay at the near by hotel (Sheilds is the name of the hotel). We worked out a deal with Sunset that all three families would have breakfast in the hotel itself and they agreed to that. It was lot of tension the first night that we arrived there (around 11 PM).

After the chaos the previous night the rest of the stay was seamless. The staff were very friendly. The beach is just 2 second away from your stay, so you can never go wrong there. There are plenty of things to do on the beach - Jet Ski, Snorkel etc.

We didn't have any safety issues, however the security guard told us that someone got mugged the previous night and accompanied us on our walk to Sheilds one night. We spent most of the time in the beach and it was AWESOME!!!!!

So this place is a great place to stay, if you don't have to go through all the drama that we did.

The restaurant was not that great, I would recommend going else where if you have a choice. You would get plenty of food options on the beach - like patties, lobsters etc.

The hotel was a little protective of their business and even got in to an argument with a couple of walk and sell vendors but nothing abnormal.

“Great hotel, but serious portion control”

THE GOOD BITS
I had a lovely time staying at Sunset on The Beach, and was also available to visit the sister resort, where the pool is, Sunset on The Cliff. The staff in both properties were very friendly, polite and helpful. The room had excellent air conditioning and I did not get a single mosquito bite in the room.

THE BAD BITS
I went all inclusive in this resort, which from past experiences meant that I could eat as much as I wanted and also drink as much. We were with a party of four, whom all felt that the portions were very small, only available on 3 meals, and drinks were not encouraged. We had to sign for everything, even though we had wristbands on.

Being from Europe, and worldwide travellers, we did not expect anyone to experience smoking in the food area. We had to ask the friendly waiter to ask this person to extinguish there cigarette.

At time of checkout I was not presented with a printout, receipt or other itemised details. However, reception insisted on keeping the manually swiped copy of our credit card on file. This blatant breach of data protection was quite disturbing having both name, passport, address and card details on record who knows what could have happened. Further to this the owner / manager of the establishment came and insisted that they be kept, despite being us being all inclusive. After having explained my position firmly and referred to the potential of fraud, the details were then destroyed. This is an area that needs strict investigation, as West Indies can be known for credit card fraud,

Room Tip: Check the a/c before you agree the room.

“excellent hotel in the island”

Just returned two days ago from there. The service in this hotel was great, everyone was very friendly, It's right on the beach and not too pricey. Everyone was so accommodating. Does not have a lot of activity at the hotel, except for Karioke on wed night, but you can go over to the other hotels on the beach. The hotel has it's own restaurant and bar on the beach. It is pretty secured with 24 hour security guard, there is parking facilities for vehicle on the premises. The location is great in Negril, you can catch a cab and go to the downtown area which is less than 10 minutes away. I have a driver"s name and number(who I used on my two trips there) who is very good, reliable, trustworthy and reasonably priced who will pick you up from the airport and take you around during your stay. I hired him for the period I was there.

Room Tip: you can cook in the suites and studios, refrigerator, stove, micowave, coffee pot, toaster, is all pr...

“Good price, great resort!”

I had the best time at the resort. The rooms were great, the people were super nice and the food was awesome! The only set back was the taxi driver that works on property named Richard Wright (with the dreds) he was not nice at all and he didn't respect the guests. DO NOT use his services, you WILL regret it later.

The idea of been able to visit the Sunset on the Cliff while staying at the Beach is great. Did i mention there food its great. My financee and i decided to hav our wedding Sunset on the Cliff while we will be staying at Sunset on the beach. I can not wait its just 2 months away.
