We had three families that went on the trip. All three of us booked a normal room on "Sunset on the Beach". We had called and confirmed that they have the 3 rooms before the travel. We get there and they didn't have all the rooms! Could be because of the holiday season?!!! But anyway, they offer one suite, one normal room and also another room in a near by hotel. I appreciate the extra effect that they showed in accommodating us but they were super disorganized. If they didn't have the availability the room shouldn't have even shown in the website for us to book (priceline.com).
Anyway, the suite was occupied by another family and this had the best view (room number 1000), the normal room was ok but not bad - no view of the sea but a short walk to the beach. We got to stay at the near by hotel (Sheilds is the name of the hotel). We worked out a deal with Sunset that all three families would have breakfast in the hotel itself and they agreed to that. It was lot of tension the first night that we arrived there (around 11 PM).
After the chaos the previous night the rest of the stay was seamless. The staff were very friendly. The beach is just 2 second away from your stay, so you can never go wrong there. There are plenty of things to do on the beach - Jet Ski, Snorkel etc.
We didn't have any safety issues, however the security guard told us that someone got mugged the previous night and accompanied us on our walk to Sheilds one night. We spent most of the time in the beach and it was AWESOME!!!!!
So this place is a great place to stay, if you don't have to go through all the drama that we did.
The restaurant was not that great, I would recommend going else where if you have a choice. You would get plenty of food options on the beach - like patties, lobsters etc.
The hotel was a little protective of their business and even got in to an argument with a couple of walk and sell vendors but nothing abnormal.
