“GREAT EXPERIENCE!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

First of all, my guess is those who complain about NBCC do not do their research. If you are thinking about staying at NBCC book with Jean Gaynair. She made things very easy and was very patient with me through many emails as we added more guests to our stay and she accommodated three different trips to and from the airport for us. I never got the opportunity to meet Jean. However, we got the pleasantry of dealing with Deandra during our stay. When we arrived, she knew my name, as well as everyone else who was arriving at that time and it was a simple here are your keys and Oral (our driver) will help you get your bags to your room.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit. It comfortably accommodated 8 adults. The main reason we felt like we had enough room was due to the large balcony. It easily fit all 8 of us around the table with room to spare. We finished many nights on the balcony drinking and reminiscing about what had taken place that day. The room itself was overall very clean, and we were surprised how big the rooms actually were. The kitchen was a huge plus as we were able to buy food and beer. We made several frozen pizzas, breakfast and sandwiches for our “picnic” lunches on the beach. The beach is one of the largest beaches on 7 mile. There were plenty of beach chairs and the water was amazing. There is a bar on the beach, but we spent more time drinking our own beer and rum punch that we would bring to the beach with us. We did use the bar to buy pina coladas and other frozen drinks. They were reasonably priced and tasty! Deandra was also a big help finding us drivers for excursions we wanted to take. She would contact a driver and we would get the opportunity to meet him first and negotiate our own prices. All of our drivers were great!
Our experience at NBCC was great! A few of us were a little nervous after reading so many negative reviews, but once we walked into our condo we were pleasantly surprised. ALSO, as previously stated, book with Jean and you will have no worries. If you are looking to have a little independence on your vacation this is a great place. If you like the resort style vacation it probably is not. But please do not bash NBCC because you didn’t do your research.

“DO NOT BOOK: Because you WON'T Have!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2011

This place was a NIGHTMARE FROM HELL. If I can save anyone from what we went through, it will be worthwhile to write this review. In looking through reviews from here & other sites plus seeing a few others in the lobby with the same problem, I think this happens REGULARLY so you CANNOT TRUST A BOOKING FROM THIS PLACE.

We prepaid for a nice condo, a more highly priced room. I called them twice the day we were to check in and was reassured that they had the beds we wanted, no problem TWICE & yet when we got there, they had GIVEN AWAY OUR PREPAID CONDO. They stuck us at a non-beach hotel in a HOTEL ROOM INSTEAD OF A CONDO that was 1/3 the value of what we paid for AND gets really bad reviews. Negril Beach Club was a DUMP but I would rather have stayed on the beach, which is what I CHOSE.

The fact is if you book with this place, you just gave up your choice, because there is no assurance, even if you PREPAY, that you will get the room you chose, or indeed, a room on the beach at THIS RESORT. I spent 2 hours in their dark, dingy lobby trying to straighten this out and there were several other parties in this miserable situation.

While I was trying to straighten it out, I noticed that their website was STILL SHOWING AVAILABILITY for the exact room we reserved EVEN AS THEY WERE TURNING PEOPLE AWAY, and they were also showing availability on several other websites like hotels-dot-com. This was true in the coming days and hotels-dot-com had the hypocritical practice of showing "1 room left" each and every day EVEN as they would say each day '4 rooms booked today.' How do you have 1 room left each day and then later say 4 rooms booked today? It does not add up. What a mess!

We HATED Negril as a result, hated where we stayed, HATED Negril Beach Club and their shady practices and I strongly URGE YOU NOT TO BOOK simply because you won't have booked. There are SO many nicer places on the beach that obviously show no availability when they are full so I would try there instead; CoCo La Palma looked nice as did many other BEACH hotels, but if you book this place AND THINK YOU'LL GET A ROOM ON THE BEACH or at a BEACHFRONT HOTEL, you may be sadly disappointed as we were. Sitting in their dingy, dirty, unlit lobby for 2 hours with my hungry children at night with NO ROOM in a foreign country is not my idea of fun, and I would not wish this on anyone, much less the nightmare week we spent in Negril NOT ON THE BEACH, which is really the reason one would go to Negril.

The front desk staff were completely stone-faced about it, somewhat resigned, which I would expect since they seem to encounter this situation - angry patrons - each day. Everyone in that lobby was pissed off at them and rightly so. Their manager was not on property and wasn't coming in until the next day and it took them an hour to reach anyone by phone. I think they would have let us sit there all night long, even sleep there, us & our 2 small kids, if I had not pushed to try & resolve this.

Avoid, avoid, avoid. NOTHING is worth the gamble you take in booking. Especially since they tell you on the phone, when you call, that it's all fine, that your room is there & ready with the right number of beds, and it's NOT. Shady business practices, shady bookings, dishonest & worse than booking nothing at all, because at least if you don't book, you still have your money and could drive up the beach until you find some availability (which there was at other places, we later found out).

“Our Stay at the Beach Club”

Was just down with 3 old pals staying in the West end , when an over booking issue came up and we needed to move. We happened to meet up with Deandra , who said she could find us some rooms - and she did..! This place is at least 30 years old so its a little tired in spots , but the rooms are comfortable & secure with ceiling fans & Air conditioners. We actually stayed in 3 different rooms (2 with kitchens) and all were fine for what you wanted..Seriously . you are in Jamaica staying on a beautiful beach - How long are you staying in your room except to sleep.?The beds are comfortable/Showers have lots of pressure. There is free Wi Fi in the lobby , so bring a lap top.You can go to Town and get supplies for your kitchen or pick up supplies at the Mini Mart..Gift shop by the Beach had very competitive prices on souvenirs and were prepared to bargain with you..Staff are all very nice & happy to help out any way they can , especially Deandra & Jean. If you want an AI resort and people waiting on you , there are lots on the Beach for you to check out . If you want to walk to your own fridge and get a Red stripe or make your own coffee in your room - stay here and save a couple of $$$. Its a great stretch of beach with great swimming and places to eat close by..CHILL Out - Its Jamaica..!

“great staff!! - G25 needs some serious TLC”

I must admit when we first walked into our 2 bedroom apt we were a lot disappointed. EVERYTHING in every room is painted the same colour not to mention that it was pretty grungy. Clean but just grungy. It certainly did not look at all like the photos that are posted on the web site. Loved the staff!! We did get used to it but Please Jean give that unit some TLC!!!

“Negril Beach Club Resort - ok for $37 a night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2010

If you are looking for a cheap hotel that has your basic needs this place is for you. No it's not the best quality, so don't go in expecting to get that. I only paid $37 a night and I was satisfied. The rooms were clean and large. It is a older resort so there are a few cracks here and there but nothing that I couldnt handle. My only issue was towels, housekeeping collected the towels early and didnt bring them back till hours later. It is a small pool and the beach was clean and had plenty of space and chairs. If you are not uptight and dont spend alot of time in your room, and looking for a cheap clean hotel...this is the place for you.
