“clean, affordable, local gem.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2010

I have stayed at the Coral Seas many times, the most recently being April 13 - 25. The rooms are very clean, the AC works well, there is security at night, and the staff are wonderful. The employees are friendly and promptly deal with any requests. The pool is wonderful in the late afternoon when the hummingbirds come out. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with many varieties of trees and plants. It is only a 10 minute walk to the roundabout in town, which saves on taxi fare. The hotel is walking distance to the Bourbon Beach and Alfreds where you can hear live reggae most nights. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

“Honeymoon Suite review”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 February 2010

We stayed in one of the Honeymoon Suites for our stay.

What we liked:

1) The grounds were well maintained and the gardens were really nice.
2) Our room was large and the bed was firm.
3) The pool in the back is fantastic. It has a bar, pool table and men's/women's showers.
4) Plenty of hot water and pressure.
5) Room was clean.

We would like to see the following improvements:

1) The pots & pans in the kitchen really need to be replaced.
2) The toaster was broken and burned the toast.
3) The taxis park right next to the property and the noise from this was a bit loud.
4) There are several restaurants very close to the property which crank up very loud music around 10PM at night.
5) The outdoor balcony was right next to the other outdoor balcony so the privacy was not there.
6) Every time we stepped near the very front of the property we were approached by people selling everything (and we have been to Jamaica many times, usually this is not an issue on other properties).
7) Maid service was a bit too early (10:30 AM) for us.
8) The bottom sheet on the bed kept coming off the mattress all week. They need new sheets.
9) Bathroon had a funky smell to it until we cleaned out the bathtub drain to remove all the backed up stuff.
10) The sound from the road was quite loud in our suite.

“Best Place to Stay! just cross the street to the Beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2010

Wow! What a deal! We never swam in the pool because of the expansive beach just a short trip across a 2-way street. The staff are awesome. You get a real idea of the values and morals of the country. Most people in Jamaica are trying to make money, but the staff at Coral Seas were genuine with their interests and opinions. Ask for the Negrill brochure when you check in. It really helped us to find good deals on food.

If you are lucky enough to be sitting beach-side and a thin, pretty lady with an enormous floppy straw hat walks up to you; talk with her. She, and a really respectful guy (his name alludes me) offer a great snorkling and cliff jumping trip (both optional, but amazing! and you can snorkle and not jump and/or not snorkle and then jump) The cliffs offer many different heights at which to jump from, so kids and squeamish adults can all have fun. Also, they offer all-you-can-drink Rum Punch and Red Stripe as well as Jerk chicken and fixings for lunch. It is only $50 US a person for 4 hours of crazy fun. The will even pick you up at your hotel.
Go to Negril! Don't stay at an all-enclusive resort unless you want to miss out on all the amazing things Jamaicans will do to please the tourists. They will put stuff in your hands, hat, bag, whatever...if they do offer them half of what they are asking. Then say that is all the money you have left. (We carried an additional wallet that remained almost empty to show them how little money we had left.) If they don't like the offer tell them that they can take their item (pot. bracelets, ect) back. They almost always opt for the cash rather than the item, because the mark it up so high.

We were there over their Holiday break (mostly Protestant) and many kids we selling melted candy bars. If they are in a group it is very difficult to buy from one and not the others. Most of my souvenir money went to kids. You can say "No, Thank you", but it is hard.

“Great Place...We Loved It!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2008

We just returned from a great 10 day stay at Coral Seas Gardens, and we do not have one bad thing to say about the resort. It was wonderful there. Our room had a full kitchen with everything you would need. A nice big bedroom with a king size bed, cold AC, full bath & a wonderful paito over looking the gardens where we spent every morning drinking coffee and evenings listening to the tree frogs. The garden is beautiful & well kept with so many plants & flowers. Wayne, the grounds keeper does a great job. The maids kept our room spotless and brought us fresh flowers daily. You could not ask for more when it comes to a nice place to stay. All the employees were friendly and went out of there way to make your stay wonderful.

The restaurant on site had good food but were sometimes out of things on the menu. It was not a problem for us but some might have an issue with it.The waitress/bartender was so sweet and always had a smile. We really enjoyed our stay there, but did miss not having beach access.

When we booked our reservation with Negril Onestop ,we were suppose to have beach access at Sunset on the Beach (formally Coral Seas Beach). But we were made to feel very uncomfortable there, by the new owners/lessee lack of communication to her manager and staff about the agreement that she made with OneStop for reservation that were made prior to her leasing the property. She made us feel and implied we were imposing on her by being there, even though we had already paid for the semi A/I privilege at both places. We even had an email from her saying she would honor the semi A/I reservation. But we did not let her poor management skills & attitude ruin our vacation. We used Legends beach and were made to feel very welcome there by all the employees.

All things considered, it turned out to be another great trip. I would highly recommend Coral Seas Gardens to anyone who wants a great place to stay.

“Love Coral Seas!!!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2008

I have stayed at Coral Seas too many times to count. My first experience was in July 2002. I wanted to get married in Jamaica on the Cliffs @ sunset. What a beautiful wedding it was. Forty two of our closest family and friends came down to join us in the nuptials. I housed all the guest at the beach and the garden. We had the wedding @ the cliff property. It was fabulous!

Since then I have gone back at least twice a year. Although not five star, it is clean, comfortable and safe. Although someone said that they didn't see security, I can guarantee you that security is always around and blend in very well with the scenery. Staff is friendly and go out of their way to make your stay a great one. The manager is the best....Hi Chancey!. And Michelle at the beach property. Hi Michelle.

I was just there in October 2007. The garden property has been renovated and the beach property was being renovated while I was there. The grounds are nature's beauty. As far as bugs are concerned....well it's jamaica. I always suggest using a product called Natrapel. It works better than anything I have ever used. I recommend Coral seas to all my friends and they love it. I can't wait to get back there this June! See you there Dredfly!!!!!

IRIE!
