Wow! What a deal! We never swam in the pool because of the expansive beach just a short trip across a 2-way street. The staff are awesome. You get a real idea of the values and morals of the country. Most people in Jamaica are trying to make money, but the staff at Coral Seas were genuine with their interests and opinions. Ask for the Negrill brochure when you check in. It really helped us to find good deals on food.
If you are lucky enough to be sitting beach-side and a thin, pretty lady with an enormous floppy straw hat walks up to you; talk with her. She, and a really respectful guy (his name alludes me) offer a great snorkling and cliff jumping trip (both optional, but amazing! and you can snorkle and not jump and/or not snorkle and then jump) The cliffs offer many different heights at which to jump from, so kids and squeamish adults can all have fun. Also, they offer all-you-can-drink Rum Punch and Red Stripe as well as Jerk chicken and fixings for lunch. It is only $50 US a person for 4 hours of crazy fun. The will even pick you up at your hotel.
Go to Negril! Don't stay at an all-enclusive resort unless you want to miss out on all the amazing things Jamaicans will do to please the tourists. They will put stuff in your hands, hat, bag, whatever...if they do offer them half of what they are asking. Then say that is all the money you have left. (We carried an additional wallet that remained almost empty to show them how little money we had left.) If they don't like the offer tell them that they can take their item (pot. bracelets, ect) back. They almost always opt for the cash rather than the item, because the mark it up so high.
We were there over their Holiday break (mostly Protestant) and many kids we selling melted candy bars. If they are in a group it is very difficult to buy from one and not the others. Most of my souvenir money went to kids. You can say "No, Thank you", but it is hard.
