“Beautiful Beach...But needs work”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 February 2011

We just got back from a four day trip to Negril. I have to say that our trip to Negril was the best, most beautiful vacation we have ever had. We spent our three nights at the Bar-B-Barn, and honestly upon checking in we were very disappointed in the room and the condition it was in. We immediately felt our hearts sink and felt like the whole trip was a mistake. However, after a refund was assured through the travel company we booked through we were able to get into the vibe of Negril and really enjoy ourselves.

Room: Do not expect a 2 star, (similar to Days inn or similar in the US), this place needs a lot of work. They are doing a lot of renovations so if you're lucky you'll get a decent room. Ours had no working windows (not that we had a view), lots of noise from the kitchen, a rusty broken tub, broken drapes, broken furniture, and the bed was the absolute most uncomfortable mattress I have slept on (not that I got much sleep).

Location/Beach: I loved the location, and other than the room the grounds are beautiful. Loved the beach, it was cleaned every morning and the security (Michael was awesome) kept the vendors moving. We were up at 7 every morning so getting chairs wasnt a problem, though they do need to replace them as they're falling apart. The beach/water in Negril is truly the best I've ever visited...Crytal clear and just amazing.

Food: Loved breakfast, what a great way to start the day...the Pizza at Angela's really is amazing!

Vibe/Atmosphere: Everyone from the hotel staff, to the guests were SO NICE! Most of the people there have been coming back for years and were all so welcoming. I loved, loved, loved how nice everyone was!

In a nut shell: Would I go back? No, not to stay but definitely for lunch or breakfast.

“With a little work could be great...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2011

Stayed at Bar B Barn for a short stay. Check in was quick but with no warm welcome or information about the hotel. The lady at the front desk was not very customer friendly.
The hotel has charm. The rooms are very basic and I did not have any hot water during my stay. I could also hear people in the rooms aside me talking, coughing etc.The hotel is well kept and you could see them doing more renovations to the property.
The bar and restaurant staff and security were great. Very helpful and friendly..a good group of people. I ate at the restaurant a number of times and the food is very good. Drinks are well made but quite expensive for Negril.
The beach is nice and well kept. The beach chairs are horrible though and there are not enough to go around. I was very surprised to have to get up early to reserve a spot at Bar B Barn. I would agree that it is time to invest in new chairs
A few small improvements would go a long way at Bar B Barn

“Excellent hotel for those who want beach access and value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2011

We booked this hotel after researching many on 7 mile beach and are very happy we stayed here.

Upon checking in, we noticed that our room did not have the mini refrigerator that we requested, so I went to the front desk and immediately they brought one to our room. Great service. The bed was hard and the pillows were flat pancakes but overall the room was clean, the AC worked well and we always had a hot shower. Music could be heard most nights but ended by 10 or 11. Quiet at night.

Bar B Barn is located on the southern section of 7 mile beach and is close to all of the action. We loved the beach area because it was not crowded like some of the other hotels located further north. Reserve your beach chair at breakfast (wait til later and they may be gone!)

Most of the staff were friendly. The front desk women could have been more pleasant, however the guy was very nice and helpful. They have a security guard on the premise who is very visible during the day and evening. He assisted us with our beach chairs and he urged venders to keep moving along from the hotel's beach area.

Our room included free breakfast. We got coffee, juice and were able to order any meal off the menu. Food was decent, coffee was weak and bland. The bar area is nice, one of the best on 7 mile. Every night we walked by, it was full. Angela's restaurant is located upstairs. We went there twice for the jerk chicken pizza! Bourbon beach (best jerk chicken around) and Kuyaba are just a few minutes north. Good food within walking distance.

“Another Stay, Another "A"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2011

Once again, above and beyond. It is the best deal around. The staff and the locals made this another very enjoyable stay. Maureen did again! Pleasant professional and personable. new Years Eve in Negril is a must! Bar-B-barn is less than step from the beach and for the price you can not go wrong. See you soon in Negril! Thanks again!

“Best spot on the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2011

My girlfriend and I spent 5 nights in October at Bar B Barn last October. The bar is great, the service is great, and the food is awesome. Be sure to get a pizza from Angelas. I hear they have great pasta as well but couldn't say no to the pizza after I had one, and I'm from Chicago so thats saying a lot! The beach is cleaned daily and is awesome. The property is away from the bigger resorts and hotels so there is less traffic, but still a simple stroll down the beach if you want all that noise. The rooms are sufficient with nothing extravagant. A nice clean bed and a hot shower. If you are paying attention to cosmetics then you are missing Jamaica. Get out of the room and go explore and meet the people. I highly recommend the Blue Hole Garden in Roaring river. Never been to anything like it. Amazing garden with the bluest swimming hole you'll ever see. And I didn't even think I would be into seeing something like this. Also watch for Norman the patty man on the beach. 1 dollar gets you a patty which is like a pizza puff but with awesome fresh veggies. He is usually down by Margaritaville where the bigger hotels are.
