“Devine Destiny is a beautiful Motel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2010

I did not stay at Devine Destiny. My fiance is Jamaican, and he lives there. Back in the day, it used to be a thriving Resort, right off the West End Road, but today, it is only a memory of its formal self. Locals reside here, because the rent is cheap, and they do not make tons of money so this is what they can afford.
It is clean, the property is beautiful. It is a quaint place to stay...a great value for the dollar.
You can easily get a cab to the beach, into town or up to the World's Famous Rick's Cafe.
It is great if you are going to Negril to party or just hang on the beach and chill. If you are looking for a resort, with fancy rooms and great beach views this is not for you.

I went to Jamaica during ATI/Dream weekend...That is Jamaican Independence Day, where they have 30 parties and concerts in a weekend. If you party like I do..and spend less time in the room and more time out partying.this is great for you.

“basic”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2009

i spent a week here late deal room only, had to change rooms 3 times in two days. toilet didnt work in first one, second one a leak coming through the cieling wetting our stuff, and then third one overlooked the pool with a balcony. when we was there a bar was in operation beside the pool, but the drinks were extortion, we were given the nod to walk up the road to local supermarket and purchase packs of beer for a fraction of the cost of one bottle in this hotel. bus service to negril beach ran twice at morning, and i think it also went on a evening, but we never used the evening one at all, we used taxi's to get to resturants and back , because we were advised to do so by holiday rep for safety reasons. the rooms were basic, beach was ok, and places to eat bordering the beach, not much to do in negril, hardly any shoppin unless you went to small local market day, trips were exspensive, such as catamaran day out, or anywhere else for that matter. you get what you pay for, and as this was a real late deal i couldnt complain for the money. but i wouldnt go again, one day we had just woke up to a right load of activitry going on around pool, opened balcony door to find a school load of kids using the pool, with there teachers.

“good basic acomodation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2009

i felt like i has to write a reveiw on this hotel as alot of people have dissed this. you get what you pay for. i went to visit my friend who lives in the hotel for a week in december and although this isnt 5 star accomodation like what some of think it is. its clean the grounds are well kept and the rooms are not as bad as everyone say. there are dated yes and it is true there is no hot water and the no shower head. the pool is run down. this hotel is defenatly recomended for people that want to travel jamaica and as long as you dont think its gonna be 5star quality then you'll enjoy it. it def is a bargain definatly

“great deal but definately no more than 1-2 star”

we stayed here for 2 weeks, room was pretty awful, no tv, not very clean. location was also slightly dodgy as hotel was down a back alley. the hotel did provide a shuttle bus to the nearby 7mile beach which was pretty amazing. there was also local markets nearby. the main problem was you would get hassled by every local who was selling something, friendly enough but a pain. other than that this was a pleasant stay if your looking for something downmarket.

“Not for me”

Not for the faint hearted. This is more Motel than Hotel. Only managed to do 2 nights out of 4.

There is no sign outside the building, so we had to ask once we pulled into the grounds, The road is very poor more potholes than tarmac once you've turned off the main road onto Summerset Road.

The large car park was deserted as was the reception area, we had to knock and shout before the receptionist appeared after 5 minutes. we noticed the beer bottles littering the bushes as we made our way to our room, it looked as they had been there a while as there were many.

The first room we stayed in upstairs was a strange affair with one small dark room furnished with a large fridge and a sink with plates that had been used at some point in time turned down on the draining board! The bedroom was large, but the bed linen was covered in a fine white dust, we asked at reception for them to be changed and it was done quite promptly. The biggest disappointment was the bathroom which had broken tiles and discolouration to the bath area we did not feel happy using the bathroom and we asked for a change of room but where told the hotel was fully booked and there was one room that would be available the following evening.

The following evening we moved into a ground floor room adjacent to the pool, the room was much smaller and the bathroom in a better state of repair but there was an odd piece of furniture in the room that looked as though it had been left behind. The dust in that room was unbelievable it coated the wooden louvres on the bathroom door and also sat on the cutouts in the lamp which was on the wall over the bed! Please clean up your act Devine Destiny!!! The worst thing we experienced that 2nd night was the army of sandflies and mosquitoes that spent the night making a meal of us and that was when my partner decided enough was enough and we left the following day.

The hotel was deserted and we were told fully booked! We were informed that many of the rooms are rented out to Spanish workers who live on the premises leaving before sunrise and getting back at night. I witnessed them going out early one morning.

The receptionist asked us why we were leaving so early and we told her the mosquitoes had got the better of us, she said 'we have no control over that' alas it seems as though there is no control over many aspects of the hotel.

Devine Destiny NO my partner preferred to call it Devine Enemy!

Think carefully before booking budget it might not be worth it!
