We spent four days in Sea Palms. The first apartment we were given smelled damp and was shabbily furnished. We had a distant view of the sea. We asked for a move and were told that was not possible as they were fully booked. When we decided to move to alternative accomodation they offered another apartment. The furnishings were slighty better and we decided to stay.

The first night water started running down the wall from the air conditioning unit to such a degree that we had to switch it off. The apartment was overwhelmingly hot in spite of fans. I spoke to a member of staff the following day who told me that she knew that if we had stayed in the original apartment we would not have had any problems and commented that she did not know why we had a problem with that first apartment. I spoke to the maid who told me the problem is that "people touch the air conditioning unit". That problem was sorted.

The following day we had a sleep in the afternoon and got up to discover that the rooms apart from the bedroom were completely flooded. Water was still running through the ceiling - including through electric lights etc. I went to find someone, only to discover that they were mopping the upstairs apartment and told me there had been a flood. They did not think to tell us as they did not know if we were in. Very little concern from staff over this incident. No offer of an alternative room and no apology from management before we left.

A taxi driver talked about remembering when these apartments were excellent. They had the feel of having been good quality in the past but were shabby and somewhat run down. The pool is basic but not a pleasant relaxing environment. The beach is very small.

All but one member of staff seemed unconcerned by the problems we encountered.

I have written many reviews on Tripadvisor (including Marblue for the earlier part of our trip to Jamaica) and have never written such a poor review. When I read negative reviews I often try to make some assessment of the writer. I rarely complain about service and usually try to find something positive in situations. It was difficult to do this with Sea Palms.

stayed at Sea Palms last summer with my fiance.... we loved the beutiful views overlokking the sea.. Staff there was quite helpful and friendly. The apts were spacious and clean... grounds were well kept . Definately worth going back year, after year.........

just got back from 10 days at the sea palms . the property is beautiful and the condo stunning. had a problem on arrival in that i am disabled and was assured by the local rental office that it would be possible for me to wheel into the apt. from the patio.. not true. there is a large (6-8 inch) step going up onto the patio from the grass, and anopther step up into the condo itself, not to mention a high curb surrounding the parking lot with no driveways. they managed to use a board to get me into the condo, but i was trapped for 48 hours awaiting the building of ramps. considering jamaica timetables (soon come, mon!!!) 2 days was remarkably swift. 3 lovely gentlemen built ramps for me, rendering the resort as wheelchair accessabile as it is ever going to get! the swimming cove is beautiful, and the snorkeling pretty good for just off the resort.. (i'm a scuba diver) but the best is the constant soothing sound of the waves and the ocean.. (couldnt hear that in negril the preivous week) even tho it rained for 6 days (tropical storm alberto) it is a lovely place. comes with a cook/houskeeper, who stays in the condo with you whether you want her to or not! (during day hours only) it seemed like a good idea in theory to have a cook, but frankly it cost more for her to buy ingredients (and pay her taxi to and from town to shop) than to eat out or cook ourselves. and it was hard to convince her NOT to tuck in my sheets each day!! but it's an interesting experience to those of us who've never had a "servant" in house before. but the price of the condo was very reasonable (thru JAVA... jamaica villas on line) and it was way better than a hotel room. staff very friendly and helpful. it's about 4 miles east of ocho rios. the office is only ocassionaly staffed, and doesn't have the "concierge" type services of the big hotels, i.e. booking tours etc, or tour operator brochures. but he staff there helped me arrange scuba diving. all the local dive operators are at the big resorts only, and you cant use them un;ess you stay there. all in all, a very pleaseant vacation in spite of rain and accessability problems.

Sea Palms room was very spacious, huge balcony, lovely surroundings and the workers was very hospitable and the meals were very sumptious. Its a place I will visit again.
