“HISTORICAL PROPERTY WITH LOVELY VIEWS. SUITES ARE A NO NO!”

We attended the wedding of our close friend here in November 2011 and the wedding was absolutely amazing. The scenery was stunning and Mrs Chin did an excellent job with the decorating and Grace amazed us with the food. It was like out of a fairy tale book. The historical building is breathtaking!

Downside!... We stayed in the large suite near the front of the hotel (sleeps 7). Now the rooms looked clean from a distance but on closer inspection it was not clean at all and littered with an infestation of these black centipede worm shells and also a living ones which we found in the bed and my friends suitcase. Hotel management did not see this as a problem and to our disappointment refused to come down and deal with the situation! The jacuzzi did not work! Basically the room looked like it had not been used for years!!

I had a sneak peek at the bridal suite and to our dismay, although it had three bedrooms only one room was habitable and the balcony was filthy! We could not step out there! Plus they had the same infestation of black centipedes and also loads of wood shavings which indicated termites!

On a brighter note, some of our family had regular double rooms and they were clean with no centipedes!!

Considering the hotel is at the top of a hill, there should be breakfast facilities or at least tea and coffee facilities in the rooms! Huge disappointment.

Would I return here? Yes but I would stay in a double room and not a suite. It is a lovely hotel but needs more care and attention to quality then it would be 5 out of 5!

Room Tip: Do not splash out on a suite stay in a double room because they are cleaner. Grace and Gail cannot r...

“wonderful Location!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

It's been 2 weeks since we returned from Jamaica for our wedding.
We had our cocktail hour and reception at this location. We didn't get to see the sunset at cocktail hour but our guest absolutely loved the place. The Food was fabulous, Grace found a steel pan band with singer. The guest couldn't stop talking about how great they were. Mine and the Grooms only regret is we didn't make our way over to meet the band. Grace and family were very accommodating thru the whole planning process. Thanks Gracie!!!!

“Historic property, wonderful hosts & magnificent view”

My partner and I spent our final 2 days in Jamaica at Richmond Hill Inn. I felt like we were staying at our own private hotel. As it was their slow season, we were almost the only ones staying there. We were served a wonderful poolside breakfast consisting of a variety of fresh fruit, toast, sweet breads , coffee/tea and juice. More than we could eat. The view was spectacular both during the day and at night. The 20 acre resort is owned and operated by twin sisters, Gail and Grace, together with their mother. They have owned and lived on the once plantation property for more than 50 years, it has a unique feeling to be there. The manor house is open to tour though and has many antiques that have a story to tell. We were asked on many occasions if there was anything we needed or if there was anything they could get for us. I can't image these ladies being anything but polite and accomodating. To walk down the hill for dinner, you ended up in the heart of Montego Bay, which can be a bit over whelming if you aren't used to it. Then a hike up the hill to get back, but hey, we all need exercise. If their restraurant had been open, I would have been more than happy to just stay there to eat. However, due to the slow time, I understand why it wasn't.
A number of famous people have stay at Richmond Hill Inn over the years, you can see for yourself who they are if you go. It was the perfect end to our 2 weeks in Jamaica. If you want a few quite days with personal attention, I highly recommend staying here for part of your visit to Montego Bay.

“Montego Bay Charm !!”

We just got back form the Richmond Hill Inn for a 50th Birthday celebration. I had been to the hotel on a day trip around Montego Bay. We have stayed at Round Hill, and Halfmoon on past trips to the City. Let me tell you the view is incredible ! We stayed in the Penthouse which had a covered porch overlooking Montego Bay, which was bigger then most hotel rooms. It had 3 full baths and one of them was on the porch and had quite the view. Gail and Grace called our room on a couple of occasions, just to check on us and see if they could help in anyway. Stay here and get out and see Jamaica ! If you go to the all-Inclusives you wont see much at all. The Inn has a great driver who will be on call just for you. Be sure and ask to see the countryside for a true feel of the country. I'll be back !

Room Tip: Choose the penthouse

“A Disgrace to the Hotel/Food Industry”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

I am in the service Industry and knows what it means to satisfy my clients and how to treat paying customers. Unfortunately I have not had the experience of staying at the Richmond Hill Inn hotel due to the unprfoessionalism and tasteless service that was provided to me in the stages of planning my rehearsal Dinner event. I received two emails from Grace their wedding planner and at no point was she helpful or suggestive. I received an email saying they could host my event for 60 guests and two days later was very saddened when I received another email with her telling me they will not be bale to host my rehearsal dinner due to the fact I thought their prices were outragoeus. When I met them in person they seemed nice and pleasant. After going back and forth with emails I could sense they were discriminating and they were charging me based who my Fiance was. To add to that a follow up call was done and she was blatanly rude and sounded disgusted...I cannot write anything good about the staff or even recommend anyone to go there. They are a bunch of women who are seemingly trying to run a business they know nothing about and will never have me recommend anyone else to their Hotel....poor customer service, unprofessional owners, underpaid staff and very classless!!!!!!! Take your money and go elsewhere where color or class is not important.
