“Average Only Hotel at 4 Star cost”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

i recently stayed at the pegasus and for a business meeting. overall i found the hotel was very over-priced for the quality of the accommodation and services. as was mentioned in a previous review, there is a somewhat 'musty' smell in the lobby and hallways (perhaps from the carpeting?) the room service menu was quite limited and while there was a mini-refridgerator in the room it was not stocked. on average it took 30 - 35 minutes for room service orders to be fulfilled which i thought was a little long as all i ordered was a burger and fries. the general decor and furnishings within the hotel and in the rooms were VERY, VERY dated (and in a few instances quite worn) and the bathroom, was very small (my bathroom door couldn't open all the way as it came up against the toilet). i note here that i had a deluxe king room at a cost of approx us$300 per night which is not a budget rate by any standard but i felt as if the room was a budget room. in terms of food, the quality was just passable - i ate in both the restaurant and from room service but the price was fairly reasonable..
on the positive side, this hotel does provide free wireless internet access and there is a wide range of channels on the cable television. the staff was also quite pleasant/courteous albeit slow with their service
.

“Not what it used to be”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I stay here a lot. This hotel is huge and traditional Jamaica. The new staff is nice (not as nice as the old). The rooms are generally clean however, the carpart smells bad like mildew. Many channels on the Television. The noise from the pool is inescapable. Don't eat in the hotel there is plenty good food near the hotel.

“Very Average”

Location: centrally located in New Kingston
Food: awful, if you want to eat hotel food then Spanish Court is much better. Breakfast buffet - again preferred the cereal in my room!
Hotel: In room service for food is limited
Amenities are not bad (nice big pool, average gym)
Open and spacious
Clean
Service, slow .. but hey we're in the Caribbean
Staff are very friendly
Its fine if you are in New Kingston for Business, that said the Spanish Court which is down the road is more modern whereas the Pegasus is ready for a make over. The Courtleigh isn't bad either, nice rooms. Overall I would probably stay at the Courtleigh or Spanish Court next time.

Room Tip: Facing the pool is nice, otherwise you overlook another hotel. They do have a buffet evening, one o...

“Decent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We spent three nights at the Pegasus in December 2011. Overall, a decent place to stay, though the much nicer Spanish Court would be my choice in Kingston - especially given that there's no difference in the prices charged by the two.

Pegasus gives a very 70s vibe - probably when the place was last refurbished. That said, it is charming, and the rooms are kept very clean (can't say the same for all common areas - the rug in the elevator for example was quite dirty). The staff is very friendly as well, and the service is quite good. Finally, the south facing rooms have excellent views towards downtown Kingston.

The biggest draw of Pegasus (and where it beats Spanish Court) is its swimming pool. Very decent size, and very pleasant for spending a few hours lazing about.

So, overall a decent place where the positives outweigh the negatives, but as long as they don't refurbish their rooms, it wouldn't be my top choice in Kingston.

“a safe and convenient place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

I stayed four nights on a business trip and ate breakfast 3 days and lunch twice there.
I thought that overall this is a good hotel. I had some quibbles with the room cleaning (no bottles of water, coffee maker not emptied etc). The only thing I found frustrating was the closed loop between the doormen and some taxi drivers. The result is unreasonable prices for taxis in US dollars for trips that cost a quarter as much in regular taxis charging in Jamaican dollars.

Room Tip: I was on the 10th floor and had an old but comfortable room with a view over the pool. My colleague...
