“Fantastic Haitian Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2010

This is a great family place to stay. It is safe and clean and the people are so friendly. It is safe, but not cut off from Haitian culture. It is a good location, easy to get around to different places and experience what Haiti is really like. Its a wonderful place to stay if you are in the adoption process as well.

“Nice Place to Stay”

I have to say that Wall's was a nice place. The staff is friendly and attentive and the meals were usually on time and always good, with the pseudo-vegetable lasagna being great.

Yes, the neighborhood is crappy and not safe at night. Of course, so is most of Port-au-Prince. If you want to be able to roam around at night with any degree of safety you'll need to move up the hill to Petionville. And you'll pay through the nose for it..

The complex is older and the quake didn't do it any favors, but the staff have made the best of it. The bathrooms all functioned and they do clean them regularly, but shared baths have a way of getting dirty.

The rooms are decent, clean when you check in and the beds aren't terrible. The linens and towels are clean and replaced every few days. Some rooms have air conditioning and some don't. It's just the luck of the draw, although when I was there they were looking into air conditioning all the rooms.

Even when you have ac it only works on the generator or when there is city power. It doesn't function on the battery power. Which means it usually doesn't work during the day. There are always lights thanks to the batteries.

They just installed a faster internet connection, so the wifi isn't quite as painful as before.

I met people from several countries, mostly mission groups or relief workers, but it is by far the best place I have stayed in Haiti.

One last note, it is Haiti. Post-quake Haiti. Things aren't as smooth or as easy as they are in the US or Europe. Expect some speed bumps. And I have to call BS on justcruising who says that they found a guest house in a safer part of town for 1/4 the price. It didn't happen. The only safer part of town is up the mountain in Petionville and that is astronomically more expensive.

I'll be staying there on all of my future trips to Port, whether alone or with a team.

“Avoid this establishment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2010

Poor accommodation, over crowded facility, poor response to complaints made this a nightmare trip to a humanitarian mission to Haiti. Quality of food very poor and some doctors and staff got sick. After days of complaints fans were provided to small two men tents in 37 degrees C weather. Tents were not water proof and made for wet bedding. They solved the problem by covering tent with tarp which made it a sauna!! At one point in stay about 40+ people had to share two showers!!

The unanimous response of the whole medical team was to get out of this establishment as soon as possible!!

“My Home in Haiti away from U.S.A.”

I have been coming to Haiti in MInistry work for over 9 years. Majority of personnell have been with Walls nearly that time and they are like my family to me when I am in Haiti. I can always feel the same sentiments from them also. Even though Veniel is about the 3rd or 4th manager since I been coming, I love him like he and his family have been there always. The wife and our baby girl is precious,! Veniel always tries to accommadate our sometimes difficult requests and with a patient spirit. I am looking forward to my January 20th visit with 5 other missionaries. I am sure I will not be embarrassed to bring them.
I can't wait for some BON MANJE'. Pastor L.orna West
