“Bad experience staying here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2011

I stayed at this hotel for one night in June 2011. I was with 5 others on a business trip. I work in the IT field and we rely on Internet connectivity to perform our work while in Haiti. The person at the desk made it seem as though it was a major inconvenience asking for the wireless access code. When I finally did get it, the connection was hit or miss.

Later on, we decided to eat in the restaurant at the hotel. Bad move. After waiting 90 minutes until a waiter came by for our order, I had enough.

To top the night off, I could not secure my room because the sliding patio door did not lock. After one night, I had enough to convince the others we needed to move.

“What do you expect?”

Don't you know where you are? What do you expect?
Stayed there from 13-17 June 2011.
The place is ok for being where it is. Yes, there was some big gaps under the front door and bathroom window that allow bugs to get in from time to time. But I had a little gecko in there with me and I think he was doing his part as pest control. Keeping the a/c on also helps.. The room was okay.
Ate at the hotel three times and didn't get sick. Had steak twice and was surprisingly good. Had a ham and cheese sandwich that was much bigger than what I was expecting.
Had to do some serious arm twisting to keep the bar open past 10PM.. Maybe they are still at curfew.. Don't know. Have a pretty good beer called Prestige.. Not strong or bitter and works well.. And even after putting down more than my fair share, no splitting headache the next day. The bar and restaurant are outdoors. Stay under the fans to keep the mosquitoes away.

“A Terrible Experience”

We had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The rooms were dirty, the bed sheets were not clean. The room was infested with all sorts of insects, AND the mattress was infested as well. The management does not care to hear any complaints. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

“One of the worst place I have ever stayed at. Food is really bad and staff are rude”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2010

I have been traveling back and forth to Haiti, and I have always stayed at Visa Lodge. I have decided that this past November was my last time I would ever stay there. The staff are very rude. The food is terrible, and as a matter of fact, my staff and I all got really sick from the food. Management doesn't care about what you have to say. Prices on alcohol change on a daily baisis. One day is one price, and the next day is another. They have false advertisement in terms of having a gym, tennis court, and a gift shop. Non of that exists in this hotel. I highly recommend Ibo Lele. It is the best hotel that I have seeing in Haiti. Nice view, and the staff are great. Stay away from Visa Lodge if you can. Now they have no security on their property either, because all the American contractors that were staying there, are no longer there. They were the ones that were providing the security for the hotel. They left because they had so many problems with management and one of the owners. The kitchen is failthy... Stay away from this hotel if you can.

“Do not rely on reservation”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2010

I have stayed at Visa Lodge for years and for the most part they have been a good hotel however, following the earthquake I mad reservations for three rooms and five people. I had a confirmed reservation and used my credit card for a deposit but when I called a week prior, I was told they will not honor any reservation!!! I spoke to the manager and he was not at all helpful. Ten years and 19 stays at Visa Lodge will be my last. If they could not make certain to honor your reservation why not say that. By the way, the next day I received an e-mail telling me my reservation was cancelled.
