“Service Has Went Down”

In the past I have stayed at this hotle on every visit to Haiti, this time the service was not good at all. The a/c was not working proper and there were a large rat in my room crawling on up the curtains. They called for housekeeping and still couldn't get the rat out of my room. They said he went out the bathroom window, but the window had screens on it. The towel was not clean, the service has just went down. They tired to place me in another room way in the back behind the restrauant with two small twin beds that look like a dump. i was paying $150 a night for the rooms. I will never stay there again.

Stayed September 2007

The people who owns and runs this hotel should not be allowed to work in service. They have no idea how to deal with people, they treat their employees badly and treat their clients like they were doing us a favor to allow us to stay at their overpriced hotel. The hotel itself have some very nice rooms but some rooms with no water or electricity and beds that sits 2 feet from the floor, simply should not be rented.
The food is horrible, but you can't account gor taste. I wish they served haitian food, because I don't go to Haiti to eat american food, nor would I go to France to eat Jamaican food. Trying the food of the place you are visiting is half the fun of going there.
The best thing is I felt safe when on the hotel grounds, I just wished there was more to do, and the food was digestable

This was my second time stayed at El Rancho, I must tell you guys it's the best hotel I've ever stayed in haiti. The staffs are very professionals and caring, it's safe and secure, the foods are amazing, the staffs were always welcome me wherever I go, they were always ready to do things for me even when I didn't ask. I felt like I was at home again, I loved the casino I enjoyed losing alot of money there, the environnement it's just superb. too bad I had to leave because it was a vacation; I wish all hotels in haiti were like El Rancho but it can only be one. All in all my stayed was excellent I had no regrets of staying there, the only regrets I had is to see myself living ,keeep up the good work and I'll see you guys again another time.

Love you guys Anne from NYC

“El Rancho Hotel”

We stayed at the El Rancho Hotel in Petionville, Haiti, which is about seven miles outside of the capital, Port-au-Prince. Our stay was adequate at best. The room is very over-priced to the tune of $US 117.00 per night plus 10% tax, with NO continental breakfast included, not even a lousy cup of coffee. Vacationing in Haiti was like being a prisioner inside of the hotel, because any time that we would walk outside of the hotel grounds we were mobbed by people wanting, well what else, MONEY. Buy this buy that, give me this, everybody wants to be your guide, geeze what a pain the [--] the whole nightmare was. I'll never go to Haiti again in my life. Another thing about it all was, there's nothing to do there, except walk through mounds of rotting garbage, and dodge mangy dogs up and down the open-manholed streets. Again, never again. “Safe, secure and clean”

The Hotel El Rancho was my oasis while visiting/working in Port-au-Prince. I found the room to be very spacious and clean. The air conditioner always worked and there was never an instance of power or water outage.
The food was very good as were the fine beverages. The staff was extremely friendly and as a matter of fact, I made very good friends with one of the desk clerks. We continue to stay in touch.
I highly recommend the El Rancho!
