Before the January 2010 earthquake I would have rated this hotel higher, because even though it falls far from any luxury, it was comfortable and the price made it a good value. But because of the big NGO’s that flooded the country after the earthquake and their willingness to pay anything for their crews and executives lodging and meals, all the hotels and restaurants raised their prices through the ceiling, and now almost two years later they have not lowered those prices again. So here is the Habitation Hatt, a hotel if in the United States you would rate it below some of the worst as far as decor, comfort, and cleanliness, and you have to pay a small fortune to stay there. Yes there’s a swimming pool, but it’s usually pretty cloudy and can be mobbed with kids, because it seems many adoptive parents come here when visiting children they are in the process of adopting.
I have always thought the restaurant, open-air along one wall, at a second-floor level overlooking the pool and grounds, was a nice place, good ambiance, VERY friendly staff and good service, and excellent food. Problem is, again after the earthquake, the menu prices shot up almost 50% for all items, so maybe if you didn’t know that you’d think the prices were OK.
