“A RELAXING TIME!”

Most of our stay was great! Our room was immaculate. We went in the middle of the week so it was almost empty until the weekend. We were visiting family in P-A-P and needed some time away with running water and air conditioning. We had a huge atractive room with a huge balcony and beautiful view. Water and toilet did not always work so we used another room to bathe one night. The other room was not as lovely as ours. I guess we just lucked out. Most of the staff was great. Food was okay but had to wait a long time for our fist dinner while a bunch of young men sold us items. The pool did not have water but didi start to fill it while we were there but was not full by the time we left. So that was really disappointing. Ocean was so nice. Sand too hot to walk on. The resort at night lit up very nicely and we could hear american music at a nearby resort where they had entertainment. We enjoyed the museum at the resort and went for a walk to the club med resort next door with a neighbourhood boy. Man at gate with gun was a little scary!!! But a much more lovely resort there with a lot of grounds to walk. They had a beautiful pool but were not officially open until the weekend. The view of the mountains and nearby island was lovely as well. So we enjoyed our stay away from the heat of port-au-prince.

“Badly In Need Of Complete Renovation”

This is an old hotel little changed since its inception. Two rows of two rooms on two stories face each other across a wide entry of grass with walkways ending at the reception. Everything is old and tired: the bar is old, the pool is old and the dining area is old. The beach is small and the food is buffet/bulk in substance.
The view from the dining area across the bay to Ile de La Gonave and Anse a Galets however is spectacular. The view combined with a very interesting historical museum make this a place to to stop on the way to Gonaives or Cap Hatien. The museum and surrounding grounds are unique in Haiti. Better to stay nearby at Kalico Beach.

“nice resort, within war torn haiti”

First off by letting me say the hotel has some of the nicest grounds, very well maintained and lush. The beach is the best part, narrow beach but very quaint. cristal clear water with very little waves, has a nice swim out floating dock about 40yards out. Rooms are decent nothing too impressive could use updating and a good cleaning. Food was above average and very nicely priced, although I ordered a burger and I don't know what it was but it was def not beef. O well what can u do it is haiti and you have to hope for the best and deal with what comes at u. Overall the resort is probably one of the best overall in haiti, but beware. The airport is terrible and very scarry for the unsuspecting traveler, I have been to haiti many times so it did not bother me but my girlfriend was scared. people everywhere trying to grab ur bags and all wanting change$$$. Roads are terrible and looks like a war zone in most parts of the country. Not a county to visit unless u have too. but the resort is a nice place amoung so much squaler..

“Beware sur Mer”

We really wanted to love this hotel. The grounds are beautiful. We booked on the telephone and weren't surprised when the desk couldn't find our reservation (this is Haiti, after all). Next the desk clerk claimed she had no idea where the "simple" rooms were, as if the only guests she dealt with regularly stayed in the more expensive rooms. She made four telephone calls and found someone who could come to the desk to tell her where to put us. Thirdly, the clerk was very confused with our American credit cards. She had to ask more questions of other staff to find out how to process our cards, but finally was able to process both mine and my sister's credit cards. My sister noticed at the time that the clerk wrote down the 3-digit security code on the back of our cards, but assumed she did this out of ignorance so she said nothing.
The rooms were large and quite nice, but the bathrooms were a disaster. Every fixture that could be broken, was broken. The a/c didn't work in my room, so I had to move to another. The fixtures in this room were broken also, worse than the first one. There was no hot water in our room.
The dining was the best part of our stay. All of the meals were Haitian-style food, very good. The bar was simple but the service good.
The beach has very coarse sand and is small and narrow, but quite lovely. Salesmen hawking Haitian art are allowed on the property.
Our biggest problem came several days after we left Moulen sur Mer, when both my sister and I were notified that our credit cards were showing suspicious activity. Both our card numbers had been stolen and thousands of dollars of internet purchases made. We cannot be certain it was at Moulin sur Mer, but having seen the 3 digit security code written down by the seemingly confused clerk is highly irregular.
