“Not good enough”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The hotel is definitely not worth all its stars - the staff is not friendly and helpful at all.

Although lovely settings, I would not at all recommend this hotel, There are others in the island that I wish that we had looked into before we decided for this - I mean, not even a restaurant? My friends and I were utterly disappointed.

“Good hotel at great location if you don't need a restaurant”

Just returned from a week in La Cocoteraie. We were considering to cancel the reservation based on the reviews, but we are glad we didn't.
Like many hotels in Guadeloupe the restaurant and bar operate independently from the hotel and unfortunately the previous tenant is involved in lawsuits for various reasons and as long as this is not settled the hotel management is not allowed to reopen the restaurant and need to improvise. The restaurant at the beach does not serve breakfast anymore and continental breakfast was served as roomservice at your requested time (more or less). For us it was more than sufficient although what we got was not always aligned with what we ordered, but it was the first week that they did this. You could order more if you wanted.
Within 5-10 min walk there are plenty of restaurants so there is actually no real need to have the restaurant in the hotel. A limited selection of drinks can be ordered at the reception and we saw even the pool bar being served.

Our room at the marina side seemed recently painted and had new furniture. Suites are very big and are kept very clean. There is a great pool. Here and there the hotel needs some maintenance so if you cannot handle that you should better go somewhere else.
Overall we liked it, but went with relatively low expectations.

“Great pool, but that´s about it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2011

This hotel didn´t have a restaurant, it was closed - for what reasons we do not know. Maybe problems with bugs. The beach restaurant though had lovely staff, although the breakfast was a bit poor.

The beach was not clean enough, and there were strange people hanging around at nights, when you were on your way back home from one of the restaurants - there were quite a few good ones nearby,

The rooms were big enough, but bugs and lizards made them feel not so comfortable.

“Nice but needs renovation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2010

We stayed at La Cocoteraie for 4 nights after cruising the island and staying in two other hotels. The hotel is big, has a huge pool ... where no one sits... It seemed like we had the whole hotel for ourselves, we saw no more than 8 other guests during our stay. We stayed at a beach suite, the rooms are huge and are very clean but the hotel will need some redecorating very soon (especially the bed was really old and not very comfortable), the beach right in front of the suite was nice and well kept. The staff is willing but although there were very little guests, communication amongst the staff seemed a problem. Not all staff is even polite... I think management needs to follow up the staff closer, they have potential but need 'a guiding hand'..
I played 18 holes at the Saint Francois Golf Course, which is right next to the hotel entrance, while my wife had a massage at the hotel. The massage was very good but also quite expensive (70€/H)..
Breakfast was ok, but nothing more. No fresh fruit juice (on an island covered with fruittrees..) Coffee was not good..
We didn't had diner at the hotel, it was to large for to little guests, it would have been very cosy or romantic.. there are a lot of nice restaurant in walking distance from the hotel.

“Fabulous spot”

This was a small, quiet, gorgeous place - just what we were looking for. 50 suites, with an enormous, lovely pool and a delightful (covered) outdoor eating area, located right on the beach. The included buffet breakfast was outstanding. We ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner only once, and this was a fine meal. The staff are efficient, polite and always helpful and attentive. It was a wonderful place to stay. We are a family of 2 parents, and 4 children aged 22, 20, 17 and 9 - we had two suites, next to each other.
