Like many other reviewers, my husband and I stayed here after a sailing trip and before an early morning flight back to the US. I had read the reviews, but the English friends who sailed with us and stayed here on the night of their arrival, had nothing but good things to say about the hotel (they also had read the reviews).
We paid 90 Euro for our room, which was a corner room on the second floor. It was a reasonable size with a decent double bed with two bedside tables and lamps. The a/c system worked and was not noisy. Small fridge and a room safe, which we did not use. Small TV on the wall which we did not use either. Little balcony outside where my husband could smoke.
Bathroom was in the corner of the room, separated by a frosted glass wall and door. Bath with shower over that could be removed as a hand held shower. Water pressure was not good, but the temperature was fine. Soap and sachets of shampoo, and reasonable towels.
We left too early (6:00 am) to have breakfast, but our friends said it was more than adequate, with eggs cooked to order. We had dinner in the separate courtyard restaurant next door (Shalimar), and can recommend the goat curry and the service. They were even happy to let us drink the bottle of wine we had taken from the boat.
This hotel serves its purpose - Pointe a Pitre is not a resort town, but a pretty gritty industrial and port town. I would certainly stay there again - for one night.
