“A perfect fortnight in paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2011

If you're looking for a romantic holiday on the lovely island of Grenada, then look no further than the fantastic Turtleback Pavillion.
We have just returned (unfortunately!!) from getting married in the villa and it was such a great time that we will be returning but next time for 3 weeks.
The villa is located in the sought after neighbourhood of Lance aux epinesand is situated in lush tropical gardens .. in fact the photo's on the websiteare misleading, as the trees and vegetation are now so well established that neither property can be seen from the other.
The layout has been well thought out and planned, with sunny and shady areas around the pool and a fantastic 'upper deck', where you can eat and relax looking out over the caribbean sea.
We had a rental car, which in my view is essential, but in fact the restaurants at the Calabash , Red Crab and Charcoals are only a 5 minute drive, with Prickly Bay walkable in 15 minutes.
In fact,Grand Anse and all it has to offer is a only a 10 minute drive and St. Georges is 15 minutes.
There is also a small and secluded beach only a 2 minute walk and is ideal for a dip or snorkelling.
The owners, Sharon and Anthon, will do as much for you as you want, we only needed the villa cleaning twice a week but Claudette will come and clean every day if you wish.
We booked through Just Grenada and their representitives, Caribbean Horizons, looked after us brilliantly, from ensuring transport to and from the airport, to
organising our wedding day and even acted as witnesses.
Nothing was too much for them and they are an excellent contact for trips, taxi's etc.
The villa as its own BBQ, so a trip to the fish market in St Georges ensured plenty of fish to cook on the evenings when we didn't fancy eating out.
Being in a villa means you can do as much or as little as you want in a time that suits you and both Marina and I can promise you a pefect time in paradise if you decide to stay at Turtleback.
We will be back !!

“Simply Paradise.............”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2011

This is one of those rare treasures that you want to tell everyone but are afraid it will become so popular it will be impossible to book. Anthon and Sharon are the perfect hosts, attentive when you need them, but allow you your privacy. The Villas are unique, beautiful and have amazing views. We have been back 3 years in a row and have yet to leave the villa to take a tour. This year we are determined to wrench ourselves away to see the sights. The people of Grenada are among the frendliest you will ever meet. It really feels like a second home, and what a bargain when compared to other islands!

“Amazingly friendly service and a stunning Villa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2010

I rented the larger 'Tradewinds' Villa for my Birthday Party this October, and the whole experience was easy to arrange, very reasonably priced, and something to remember for a long time.

On prior agreement with the owners I had approx 30 people stay for a daytime pool party, and then 6 of us stayed overnight in the 3 bedrooms. The whole Villa was spotlessly clean and bright, and although there were a few issues with the wiring in the pool the owners organized for their electrician to come and check it out within the hour.

The unusual, bright colour schemes of the Villa and surrounding courtyard make for a dramatic setting. The appliances provided were all modern, and the owners even found an extra stereo and grill for us to use for the day.

The location in Lance Aux Epine means that you can get to the stores/beaches within 10 minutes drive which would be perfect for tourists who don't know their way about the Island, or parties so that it's a central location that's easy for everyone to find.

Will absolutely be coming back

“Fourth time and still a charm!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2010

Once we landed, it took very little time to make it through immigration, grab our checked luggage, and then maneuver through customs. Outside Jude, a friend of our hosts, was waiting to drive us to our villa, the charming and ever-so-reasonably-priced Turtleback Pavilion. Low season rates here are always a good value, but because of the economy, the owners were offering 30% off the rack rates this summer. Our fourth visit to Grenada and our third stay at that villa (on one of our trips we traveled with friends and stayed at the larger, sister villa of Tradewinds, found at the same websites above), so clearly we’re devoted fans. Almost 16 hours exactly from the time we left for the airport that morning we tumbled into bed, filled with that odd combination of exhaustion and exhilaration that so often accompanies travel days.

It might be a gigantic pain in the a$$ to have such a long travel day, and I ain’t sayin’ that I wouldn’t rather get to Grenada in a more timely manner, but boy howdy—there is a real and certain reward for landing on the island well past sunset, and that is waking up to its sunlit splendor first thing in the morning.

Our hosts, Anthon and Sharon Antoine, had done some light provisioning for us ahead of our arrival, so after the usual exclamations over the beauty of our surroundings and our great good fortune to be there, we immediately set about making coffee before heading out to the pool. One of the best things about Turtleback is the number of nooks tucked around the villa for reading & relaxing, so there’s always an option to be social or solitary, in the sun or in the shade. Between the main level and the rooftop lounge there are two pairs of padded Adirondack chairs, two padded sets of chaises longues, three sets of tables & chairs for dining, two rocking chairs, and a set of the most amazing padded swings whose backs can adjust up or down like a chaise longue. It’s truly a limer’s paradise!

A bit more about the villa: it’s an open plan studio with a king-size bed, a compact but complete kitchen, and a full-size day bed all sharing the living space with a compact bathroom off to the side. French doors on three sides can be thrown wide open, but the best part of the villa is the outdoor living space. There’s a swimming pool big enough to actually swim in, surrounded by mature foliage, plus the rooftop deck with wet bar, which has lovely views over the bay and out to the Atlantic. For a couple traveling without friends or children, I don’t believe there’s any better value for that level of comfort and style on the entire island.

If I were looking at Turtleback with an eye toward flaws, there are a few minor ones I could come up with: an unusually hard bed, linens and towels whose quality don't at all match the quality of the rest of the villa. But really these are quite minor compared to the full line of amenties and joys of staying there. What's more, Sharon and Anthon have a good memory of past guests' requests. For example, after our first stay there, when my husband and I had commented that the small bedside lamps didn't give off enough light for reading in bed, they purchased two reading lights and now always present them to us for our stay.

“Lovely villa with stunning views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

We stayed in this lovely villa for a week with out two teenage children. Very clean rooms and kitchen well stocked with pots and pans. The quiet location allowed us all to spend many hours reading and listening to music whilst swimming in the pool. Local road very steep and not possible to walk far in the heat so glad we hired a car.
