This hotel is an excellent 3*. As said before a little tired in places but please don't spend too much money on it or make it a five * we will never be able to afford to come.
The rooms are spacious with plenty of storage. Air con a little noisy. Good shower. Room was kept spotless and clean towels every day.
we enjoyed the food. Breakfast much the same everyday choices of freshly cooked eggs, bacon, beans tomatoes , bread/croissants and fruit, some days we even had passion fruit and star fruit.
Lunch, Chicken or fish, burgers, hotdogs, fries, sandwiches, pasta, salad or veg. A couple of desserts. If you want ice cream you need to ask for it when they clear your dinner plate. some lovely flavours.
Dinner, Fish, meat dishes, chicken, salad, veg and potatoes done various ways.
some lovely desserts . We never went hungry and also the soups were very good.
Rum punches and cocktails were good. didn't try the oriental restaurant on site , but heard it was good.
If your A.I. do try to eat out a couple of times. The Aquarium is about 6min walk along the beach. You can go up have a look at the menu and book a table. live music on Friday's eves. and bbq and live band on Sunday lunch times.
Also heard the beach hut restaurant is good. Book through hotel and they will send a courtesy car. its about 4 mins away in a car
Evening entertainment was ok, steel bands and singers. If you want to party this is not the place for you.
Different activities going on in the day, if you want to join in.
The grounds of this hotel are lovely and attract lots of birds and wildlife.
Both the beaches are lovely. While we were there the sea was a little choppy. You could get in and out without being knocked over ( choose the right time, lol.) and bob about, but it was quite hard to swim. We were told its not always like this.
We went to the B.B.C. beach ( morne Rouge) Which was lovely and calm. It cost about £20.00 return. Also we found the Gran Anse to be a bit calmer. We went by taxi and got the bus back, that was an experience and we even had a little tour.lol. Great fun.
The smaller beach at the Rex has a dive school. My Husband went out for a dive with them and said it was excellent. The best £100.00 he had ever spent. He had a short lesson in the pool the day before then went on two 45min dives.
The only little moan i have is on our first week there didn't seem to be enough sun loungers on the beach and people get up early to put their towels down, this is the first time we have experienced this in the Caribbean. Then you find you have to do same if you want a lounger.
The 2nd week there were more loungers available but still everyone puts their towels down.
This hotel is a very friendly and happy place. As someone said earlier the staff are so friendly that it rubs off on the guests. You cant go far without saying hello to someone.
The beach vendor's were also a friendly bunch, our favorite was Marlon.
We found the waitresses/ waiters to be really friendly, even though they were busy most had time to have a little chat with you. A big thank you to all the staff.
Also we found the Grenadian people to be very friendly and helpful and felt very safe.
There are some great trips to do. We enjoyed the tour of the island with Chris's Tours and Taxi's, you can book him online before you go and sort out what you want to see and do.. Lovely man, and very knowledgeable about his island.
The catamaran trip was fun, also the food was great.
We wanted to go to Carriacou by plane but kept putting it off as the weather was a little changeable at the beginning of the holiday then we ran out of time. So we will definitely try to return again. A wonderful holiday.
