“Great holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

This hotel is an excellent 3*. As said before a little tired in places but please don't spend too much money on it or make it a five * we will never be able to afford to come.
The rooms are spacious with plenty of storage. Air con a little noisy. Good shower. Room was kept spotless and clean towels every day.
we enjoyed the food. Breakfast much the same everyday choices of freshly cooked eggs, bacon, beans tomatoes , bread/croissants and fruit, some days we even had passion fruit and star fruit.
Lunch, Chicken or fish, burgers, hotdogs, fries, sandwiches, pasta, salad or veg. A couple of desserts. If you want ice cream you need to ask for it when they clear your dinner plate. some lovely flavours.
Dinner, Fish, meat dishes, chicken, salad, veg and potatoes done various ways.
some lovely desserts . We never went hungry and also the soups were very good.

Rum punches and cocktails were good. didn't try the oriental restaurant on site , but heard it was good.

If your A.I. do try to eat out a couple of times. The Aquarium is about 6min walk along the beach. You can go up have a look at the menu and book a table. live music on Friday's eves. and bbq and live band on Sunday lunch times.
Also heard the beach hut restaurant is good. Book through hotel and they will send a courtesy car. its about 4 mins away in a car

Evening entertainment was ok, steel bands and singers. If you want to party this is not the place for you.
Different activities going on in the day, if you want to join in.

The grounds of this hotel are lovely and attract lots of birds and wildlife.

Both the beaches are lovely. While we were there the sea was a little choppy. You could get in and out without being knocked over ( choose the right time, lol.) and bob about, but it was quite hard to swim. We were told its not always like this.
We went to the B.B.C. beach ( morne Rouge) Which was lovely and calm. It cost about £20.00 return. Also we found the Gran Anse to be a bit calmer. We went by taxi and got the bus back, that was an experience and we even had a little tour.lol. Great fun.
The smaller beach at the Rex has a dive school. My Husband went out for a dive with them and said it was excellent. The best £100.00 he had ever spent. He had a short lesson in the pool the day before then went on two 45min dives.
The only little moan i have is on our first week there didn't seem to be enough sun loungers on the beach and people get up early to put their towels down, this is the first time we have experienced this in the Caribbean. Then you find you have to do same if you want a lounger.
The 2nd week there were more loungers available but still everyone puts their towels down.

This hotel is a very friendly and happy place. As someone said earlier the staff are so friendly that it rubs off on the guests. You cant go far without saying hello to someone.
The beach vendor's were also a friendly bunch, our favorite was Marlon.
We found the waitresses/ waiters to be really friendly, even though they were busy most had time to have a little chat with you. A big thank you to all the staff.

Also we found the Grenadian people to be very friendly and helpful and felt very safe.

There are some great trips to do. We enjoyed the tour of the island with Chris's Tours and Taxi's, you can book him online before you go and sort out what you want to see and do.. Lovely man, and very knowledgeable about his island.
The catamaran trip was fun, also the food was great.

We wanted to go to Carriacou by plane but kept putting it off as the weather was a little changeable at the beginning of the holiday then we ran out of time. So we will definitely try to return again. A wonderful holiday.

“Fantastic value for the money”

Having stayed in many of the Rex Resorts around the Caribbean, I can honestly say that this is the best.
Like most of the Rex properties the buildings are a little bit tired. Food is good and very tasty if a little repetitious. On Sunday's you get roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.
The staff are the most friendly I have come across, apart from reception, who need more training.

Would I go back, Yes most definitely

Room Tip: Choose a Beach Front room, the supplement is small, but the location is great.

“Nice budget option”

Stayed at The Grenadian for a girls getaway. Got a REALLY good deal on Expedia. It is really close to the airport so we walked. The food was good, very tasty. The building obviously needed to be repaired though I didn't have a problem with our room. The staff needed some more training- I remember the receptionist accosting me about my Expedia booking.

HUGE property that they could do a lot more with. The staff did accommodate us on our last day with meals and a room to change (we went to the beach).

Room Tip: Get a room close to the pool.

“great hotel -with a few improvements could easily be a 5 star hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed here for 2 weeks in january 2012 and this hotel is great! by far the best beaches we have ever seen we got some great pics, snorkelling is good too! lovely pool and pool area, good selection of drinks/cocktails. rooms are very nice, spacious and clean and having the lake is a lovely bonus as it attracts lots of wildlife incl iguanas :) the daytime and evening entertainment is great and leslie is fantastic -a great credit to the hotel he doesnt stop! the food is nice -not great but its good. and we loved the managers cocktail party on the monday!!! it was fantastic. the bar staff could be slightly friendlier and smile more, but the rest of the staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful and we are missing most of them because we got on great with them! and its walking distance to airport (dont worry you dont hear anything!) -cleaner didnt always replace hand towels /tea/milk, but this hotel comes very highly recommended!

This is the best 3 star hotel we've ever stayed in and with a few tiny improvements it could easily be the best hotel on the island a 5 star hotel! -bathrooms could do with updating, more sun loungers around the pool and on the beach with cushions would be nice, more choice of food and a little bit better quality (to be five star) have the oriental restaurant included as part of the all inclusive -maybe 1-2 visits per week? and have the pool side restuarant open every night as well - could maybe do themed evenings such as indian, chinese, seafood, mexican, italian. maybe nice if the evening entertainment could start slightly earlier, having motorised watersports would be a bonus too and what we think would be a great idea is to team up with the aquarium restaurant down the beach and offer 1 free meal to all inclusive guests because the food in that place is 5 star amazing! -maybe light a little path along the beach to it? -the location of this hotel is out of this world and the views/beaches are fantastic which is why with a few little tweeks this could easily be a five star hotel!! and could double its price! maybe throw in a free treatment at the spa too, it is slightly tired in places so could do with a lick of paint etc -but its so close to being the best hotel in grenada and is a great hotel just the way it is

Visit the aquarium restaurant at the end of the beach the food is amazing!

D2O the hotels watersports and dive centre is brilliant we went scuba diving at flamingo bay and saw a turtle and went to the underwater sculpture park which is really good.

you have to do the adventure jeep safari tour! its brilliant -swim in the waterfall, swim in the natural sulphur hot springs, feed the monkeys and learn alot about grenada, we also did the river tubing which was fantastic and we want to go back to grenada just to have another go! it was so much fun!

crab racing at the owl bar on a monday night is worth a visit -lots of fun

fish friday through the hotel was really good -whole lobster for $80EC so great prices!
saturday market was good -got all our gifts in one trip :)

Room Tip: we booked a hillside room but were upgraded to a seaview room -amazing view!
