First and foremost, I would like to Praise the Lord, Jesus Christ, and thank Him for blessing us with such a beautiful vacation! My husband, Santiago, and I had 6 days and 5 nights in the most beautiful place on earth; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
My husband and I live in Columbus, Ohio; but my husband is originally from Dominican Republic. Born in Elias Pina - lived in Santo Domingo. This was not his first time in Punta Cana, but the first time for pleasure.
From the beginning of our vacation when we got off the plane, until the very last day, we had the greatest time. Our driver from the airport, his name is Renzo. He was so nice and made us feel so welcome. When he pulled up in front of our Resort, it literally took my breath away because of how beautiful it was.
When we got out of the van and said goodbye to Renzo; all the wonderful staff in the front welcomed us with warm greetings and efficiently retrieved our bags and had them on the way to our suite.
When we checked in at the front desk, we were greeted by a lovely, young, lady by the name of Yoenia. She took great care of us and promptly got us to our suite. She gave us our keycards and explained about the towel cards. She made us feel like the most important people there. Almost like we were the only ones there. Her customer service is excellent!
When we were checking out, a nice young man by the name of Benjamin helped us. He asked us how our vacation was and told us he hoped to see us again soon. Also, we were helped by a lovely, young lady by the name of Eunice. She even went out of her way to help us get a package to a family member in Santo Domingo. We really appreciate the extra help!
And for those of you who don't speak spanish, don't worry, the staff knows many different languages. (English, spanish, french, etc.)
Once we entered our suite, again we were so happy and so excited. Our new friend, Juan Luis helped us to our suite with our luggage. He showed us our suite and left with a smile and was so very helpful.
We stayed in the Jr. Suite w/Jacuzzi. Our balcony overlooked the most amazing garden. Beautiful palm trees and flowers.
The room was so beautiful with the marble tile floor, jacuzzi, king size four poster bed and wonderful balcony. We definitely were in paradise all around the resort.
I myself, am not too picky about having to stay in the best room, but as long as it's clean and tidy, I'm happy. Well, not only did we stay in a great room, it was clean from top to bottom. No dust, dirt or anything else was in the room. Fresh towels, linens, Plenty of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and other toiletries. Overall the room was great.
There are quite a few restaurants at the hotel. There were only two that required reservations.
We had dinner one night at LeGourmet. This was the French restaurant and it required reservations. The service was outstanding and the food was absolutely delicious. Junior was our waiter and he was on top of his game the whole night. Not one glass stayed empty and not one empty plate stayed on the table too long. I felt very blessed to be in a place where all the employees treated us so wonderfully.
I can say that there are two favorite restaurants for myself at the Majestic Colonial. One is Tres Carableas. That is the restaurant right on the beach. What a fantastic view! The other is the Portofino Buffet. The selection is phenomenal and the service is even better. Anyone who says they couldn't find food to eat, I don't know what to tell you. There is so much to choose from and it's all delicious.
I am going to name some of the servers that took such good care of us. They should definitely get a raise in their pay for taking such good care. They are: Estefany, Radame, Ogledy, Jancel, Ester, Marisol, Rosa, Luz, Ramon Alexis, Jonatan (Cafe!Cafe!), Raul, Rost, Jenny, Ricardo and so many more. Sorry I don't remember everyone's names.
Each and everyone of these special people will have a place in mine and my husband's hearts always. Not only did they take good care of us, they became family to us. I felt so emotional the last day of our trip. I actually felt like I was leaving behind a part of my family. We love you all so very much and pray that God will continue to bless you for blessing so many others who come to the resort.
I was so happy to be able to have fresh seafood (lobster, shrimp, grouper, salmon, red snapper, mero, etc. everyday. The fruit was the sweetest and freshest I've ever tasted. Fresh from the tree or vine and right to my plate. The mangos and pineapples were my favorite! Yum.
I told my husband, the hardest decision I had to make on vacation, was whether to go the pool or the beach. For me it wasn't too hard - THE BEACH! Pool is nice, but I don't get to swim in the ocean everyday.
The beach at the resort, was so beautiful. White sands and turquoise water. Can't get any better than that!!! Another thing I noticed, was how clean and secure the beach was. There were employees constantly keeping the beach clean picking up. Security would patrol the beach to make sure nothing was going on to distract the visitors.
Another thing that made me feel quite secure was having a safe in our suite. You made the code, so nobody else had access. I was wondering what I was going to do with my purse and other valuables while on the beach or at the pool and I didn't have to worry one bit. We just put what we need to in the safe, took off for the day and that was it! No Worries! That was definitely a big plus for me.
I can't really say anything about the spa onsite. My husband and I didn't use this facility, but from the outside and looking into it, it looks very luxurious and inviting.
The one thing I also noticed that I thought was great, was that the Majestic Colonial is family friendly. They had plenty of activities for the kids too. If you decide to come with everyone, they even have a kids pool area that looked really neat. It had slides, etc. for the little ones.
My husband and I don't have kids, but I have recommended the resort to my friends who do. They even have programs and shows for the kids. They have clowns that entertain the kids and have a program on the beach for them as well.
I was surprised to find out that the sand on the beach didn't burn my feet when I stepped in it. I have been to other beaches that I almost burned my foot on the sand and had to quickly step into my shoes. This beach was very cool and so were the paths going to and from the beach. I spent most of my time walking barefoot while I was there, except for at the restaurants of course.
There are plenty of extra activites for families as well. Snorkeling, kayaking, windsurfing, parasailing, banana boats, tubing, swimming with sharks, dolphins, sea lions, etc. Plenty of places to golf as well if you like to.
My husband and I went swimming with the dolphins. Dolphin Explorer was the name of the place we went. There are different packages with different prices. Reasonable and on up.
If you have ever wanted to do this, I say go for it. You may never have a chance to do it again. We loved it and want to do it again when we come back next year for vacation. We already decided we want to come back.
Before we left the resort, my husband went to the Public Relations desk and was helped by a young lady by the name of Yaniri. She was very professional and quite helpful. She helped my husband make the reservation at Le Gourmet.
I know this is a long review, but I wanted to cover as much as I could. For those of you thinking about booking a stay at the Majestic Colonial, I highly recommend that you do. It was truly the best vacation I've had.
The only thing I can think of that I didn't like, was the fact that I had to go home to Ohio. I cried our last day telling my husband that I loved his country and would love to live here. But then reality crept in and I remembered we have a responsiblity to our church, work, family and friends. Being a Pastor's wife, I was blessed to be able to meet so many brothers and sisters in Christ working at the resort as well. For all those believers and non-believers we met, may God continue to bless u and your families as well. We love all of you and look forward to seeing you again soon! :)
We stayed in room 4218. It wasn't an ocean front view or pool view. It overlooked a beautiful...
