“GREAT!”

Wonderful vacation! Booked thru cheapcaribbean.com and everything went smooth. All the staff at the hotel were great. The beach was clean and beatiful. The main pool was great, only prob was finding chairs- we didn't want to get up early to save them like most did, but we usually figured out something.

We stayed in the Royal Club, our room was amazing! We did have a water leak one night when it was raining but those things happen. Beds were comfortable, warm water, and kept clean!

I thought most of the food was pretty good. The Royal club one was amazing...everything we ate there was so good. Service was great too. All of the al carte places were good too. The main buffet was good for breakfast and lunch, but didn't care for the dinner. The drinks were great...everywhere on the resort. WE NEVER GOT SICK! and I usually do!

I enjoyed the royal club beach the most, if you are in the other areas of the beach locals can come up and try to get you to buy stuff- they are not allowed in the royal club area.

I'm sure if we didn't stay in the royal club the trip would have been great too, but i think if you can do it, get the upgrade! We plan on going back for sure!

“Great resort but needs some room updates”

We have stayed at Occidental Resorts since Dec. 2007 and have always enjoyed our stays. The rooms, service and food has always been exceptional. The last 2 years we have stayed as Royal Club guests and that has improved our visits even more.

This was our first visit to the Dominican Republic and again, the resort more than met our expectations - except for the room at the Royal Club. It was very clean and the maid service was just great. The room itself needs to be updated. Small things that you expect when staying in the Royal Club. Very small counter space in the bathroom, cracking and peeling grout around the sink, bathtub has cracks, and almost no water pressure in the shower. The main room could have used a newer TV, a full length mirror, and a chair to sit on. Also needs something more to set suitcases on. However the important things were provided! The bed was awesome, we were given all the water, beer, sodas, juice , etc that was need plus some and the room was cleane daily. The RC beach and bar was a really nice extra we didn't expect.

We definitely recommend the resort for a great tropical vacation.

Room Tip: Stay as a Royal Club guest but know it is an older resort that needs some updates.

“some good some bad”

Well where do I start? We got to this hotel Jan 27 2012 we were back and forth from the check in counter to the help desk trying to find our room, after about 30 mins of waiting we get a room. Building 26 bottom floor we were told ocean view, hardly if that. I go to the bathroom the tub is rusted out there was NO hot water. So we go back to the front desk and complain the next day we get moved same building but top floor facing the ocean that we could actually see now. No rusted tubs ,hot water the room was just way better in general. The first one felt like a motel. I was so uncomfortable sleeping in the first room the first night we got there. Now fridays and Mondays they have people who are aloud on the resort to sell things, I didnt know this and if i did i wouldnt have booked here I hate pushy people and they were all over you. and there was NO way to avoid them the route they were on was to the lobby where the food was at. The staff for the most part were really nice to us, we didnt do any of the cart dinners just buffet the food was really good always something different! So we stuck with that. im not the type that likes to have a set time that i have to eat at so this is why we stuck doing it this way. The pools are nice the beach is amazing BUT again u have people trying to sell u things on the beach for " cheapy cheapy cheapy" thats all I heard dont bother buying it the stuff falls apart and is way more then going into the markets outside of the hotel. There was always police on horses riding around and securtiy from the hotel on the beach so i felt really safe! we did manati park one day the only good thing with this is the swim with the dolphins other then that i found the park to be pretty lame. and again they had shops where people push u to come into their store and try to sell you things. We also tried to do the deep sea walk on the ocean the day we were to do that buy the time we got on to the boat is was pouring rain every one was cold and didnt want to do it myself and my husband plus 8 other people said eff this and went back to land and took a cab back to the hotels we all split on fare. No one came to us and asked if we wanted to book for another day so there was wasted money. I did come to realize that a pair of my skull berets were stolen from my room, so far thats all I have noticed that is missing. You have to pay for your safe and if I would have known berets were something to be worried about I would have locked them up. wifi in the room well.......... Im not sure if it was because we were so far from the lobby but it didnt work in our room the only time it worked was when we were in the lobby or in the buffet room. its not bad priced 25 hrs for 25 us dollars. and it lasted me the whole week I was down there. As we had to leave no one came to pick us up in a cart with our bags we had to roll through the all resort with our suitcases and I had never had that happen before. The buildings can use a lot of work I find them outdated and a lot was falling apart. We paid a good amount of money for this trip and im not sure where it goes to but it doesnt go to repairs to the buildings. Personally I wouldnt stay there again My husband and I are in our late 20's early 30's and it was more so 50 plus there maybe it was the time of year im not sure but there was a lot of older people we felt so out of place. They did offer shows at night for free but of course the week we went it rained most of the time out of the 7 days we got 3 nice ones. so we didnt get to watch any shows they are all outside and i didnt want to get rained on. We did do a mini photo shoot with the guys on the resorts company and I can say that was the BEST part of my trip with the 3 days of good weather laying on that white sand. the pictures came out amazing!! Oh last thing a lot of topless women and not flattering ones either just a heads up there is no plus 18 section if you are bringing your children.

Room Tip: building 26-307 was our updated room ask for that very close to the beach

“Very clean, overall good vacation”

We went January 2012, there were 10 of us. The hotel is older and the bathrooms are in desperate need of remodeling, rest of the room is par with other hotels. The buffet has many choices there is something for everyone, the chocolate is the best i ever tasted. It was so windy at the beach we rearely sat there, and the entertainment staff are not good at all they were never around when it was time for an activitiy. We booked through transat holidays so we got alot of extras that everyone else did not, for example we had private waiter service and chairs on the beach, and a special area for a la carte breakfast. I highly reccomend if u are planning on choosing this hotel do book with Transat.
