Well just got back from excellence punta cana and it was not fun. I am a seasoned traveler and know what to expect from a vacation. I am not one of those people who is fussy and complains about everything but i must tell you about excellence. Upon arrival we were greeted with a wet towel and champagne as most do these days. We got to our room and noticed there was lipstick on the glasses at the vanity. The room seemed old and basic for a all suite hotel. We went to the front desk and told them about our problems and they looked at us like we were aliens. After some talk the agreed to switch rooms and put us in the room right next door. This room was the exact same thing minus the lipstick on the glass. Our guess is the people who got our room complained as well as within minutes of returning from the front desk another couple already had a room key to our first room with the lipstick. They did not even send a maid or anyone to check the room out before they gave it to the second couple. It only gets worse from here. We went out to diner that evening at the french restaurant and the 4 of us ordered dinner. The wait for the food to come was endless. First they brought the aps out and argued with us on who got what and they were very rude. after much more time out came the main course covered with a silver top and in unison they pulled off the covers and said wallaaa but wallaaa every meal was wrong. I can go on and on but i think you get the idea. The food here was good not great but good. We ate at other restaurants there and they only got worse from there. We went to the breakfast place and it looked great with 7 different kinds of juice. We went from station to station getting our food and i grabbed 2 different juices. The juice sucked it seemed that the juice was diluted with so much water that the taste barley resembled juice at all. The eggs were good but most everything else sucked and would not of fed most of it to my dog. We watched the cook pick something off the dirty floor at his work station with his bare fingers then go right on cooking without washing his hands. This leads us to the next stage by the time we left we all got sick. We were very careful not to drink any water unless it was bottled but we still got sick maybe because of the unsanitary practices of the help. That leads us to the help aside from the french place the help was very pleasant and happy. They would go out of their way to please us and this is the only highlight of our stay with EXCELLENCE. Jose at the martini bar was the best and made a very bad experience one that we could almost tolerate. The grounds of the property were clean but that is all i can say good about it. The plants and shrubs looked sick in many places. The plants that had green on them had little or no flowers on them. The little bit of flowers that were there looked dull and were not pretty. We have been to many other resorts in January and we did not experience this lack luster dullness in the plants. This was very disappointing to say the least. The spa was great and can only say good things about it. The beach was better than most and was very nice as was the pool. In conclusion the rooms were poor the food substandard the grounds were not beautiful and one of us is going to the doctors office today to find out why she is still sick . My suggestion is if going to punta cana do not stay here. The price is high and this property is rated high by others but i would never return to Excellence punta cana again.
