This review is a little late ( Nov 23-Dec 7/11). My husband and I ( 60 ish) travelled to Punta Cana last April and enjoyed our stay and the lovely people of the DR that we could not wait to vacation again and enjoy the beautiful weather, kick back and hang out and not think of anything but what our next choice of drink would be!!! Let me start by saying, yes the airport is a little overwhelming but we took things in stride only knowing that at the end of our bus ride we would be in paradise for 2 weeks so no worry!!! We arrived at the resort in a timely fashion and were greated with a lovely cocktail, smile and the greatest phrase that we had been waiting to hear for months " HOLA" Our room was not ready as we had an early flight so we indulged in a few bubbly pops and explored this beautiful resort, how anyone could complain is beyond us. We were upgraded to the Bavaro side Bldg #10, sometimes politeness is a virtue. Our room attendant during most of our stay was lovely lady named "Rosie" who tried her best to ensure that our stay was room was well kept and replenished daily, our Spanish is minimal although with sign language and sometimes Charades we managed during our stay with every staff member. We ate at the buffet and the beach bar during our stay and we were never hungry and choices were plentiful, we did not do the restaurants as we were pleased with the buffet. The "Windows Buffet" has the best of staff and the one gentleman that greeted us each morning and evening with a great smile and who was genuinely pleased to see us and look after every need was " Wilson" what a great guy and such a hard worker. The beach is beautiful with hard working staff continuely cleaning up what " Mother Nature" has given them day after day so that the guests can walk the beautiful beach. The beach bar staff were great especially " Nelson" never did we wait and complain as many of the others but like I said patience is a virtue and a few $$ per day for the staff from us made our vacation very seamless!!! " Nicolas" at the pool bar behind our room was awesome and made the greatest cocktails. Yes the vendors, time share sales people can be a pain in the butt although "No" in any language is very much understood. My husband is a Professionl musician ( drummer ) who had the privilege of sitting in with the band, these guys were very gracious and actually invited him to play along for a number of songs, what a treat for this " Proud Canadian". Our daughter and SIL surprised us during our trip, the best surprise ever and they also had a blast and enjoyed everything the " be Live Grand Punta Cana " had to offer. We are planning our return trip to this resort in late April/12 without any hesitation, so if you realistic with your expectations and want a great time book it' sit back and await the best time of your life, and oh yes the " Roosters" are alive and well!!!
