“Felt like home,GREAT VACATION!!!H”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

This review is a little late ( Nov 23-Dec 7/11). My husband and I ( 60 ish) travelled to Punta Cana last April and enjoyed our stay and the lovely people of the DR that we could not wait to vacation again and enjoy the beautiful weather, kick back and hang out and not think of anything but what our next choice of drink would be!!! Let me start by saying, yes the airport is a little overwhelming but we took things in stride only knowing that at the end of our bus ride we would be in paradise for 2 weeks so no worry!!! We arrived at the resort in a timely fashion and were greated with a lovely cocktail, smile and the greatest phrase that we had been waiting to hear for months " HOLA" Our room was not ready as we had an early flight so we indulged in a few bubbly pops and explored this beautiful resort, how anyone could complain is beyond us. We were upgraded to the Bavaro side Bldg #10, sometimes politeness is a virtue. Our room attendant during most of our stay was lovely lady named "Rosie" who tried her best to ensure that our stay was room was well kept and replenished daily, our Spanish is minimal although with sign language and sometimes Charades we managed during our stay with every staff member. We ate at the buffet and the beach bar during our stay and we were never hungry and choices were plentiful, we did not do the restaurants as we were pleased with the buffet. The "Windows Buffet" has the best of staff and the one gentleman that greeted us each morning and evening with a great smile and who was genuinely pleased to see us and look after every need was " Wilson" what a great guy and such a hard worker. The beach is beautiful with hard working staff continuely cleaning up what " Mother Nature" has given them day after day so that the guests can walk the beautiful beach. The beach bar staff were great especially " Nelson" never did we wait and complain as many of the others but like I said patience is a virtue and a few $$ per day for the staff from us made our vacation very seamless!!! " Nicolas" at the pool bar behind our room was awesome and made the greatest cocktails. Yes the vendors, time share sales people can be a pain in the butt although "No" in any language is very much understood. My husband is a Professionl musician ( drummer ) who had the privilege of sitting in with the band, these guys were very gracious and actually invited him to play along for a number of songs, what a treat for this " Proud Canadian". Our daughter and SIL surprised us during our trip, the best surprise ever and they also had a blast and enjoyed everything the " be Live Grand Punta Cana " had to offer. We are planning our return trip to this resort in late April/12 without any hesitation, so if you realistic with your expectations and want a great time book it' sit back and await the best time of your life, and oh yes the " Roosters" are alive and well!!!

“Gluten Free is possible while traveling!!”

Carmen Solano and Yorvi Antonio were like family to me during my first trip to Punta Cana. They went above and beyond to accommodate me and my gluten free/ Celiac restrictions. Every meal and every restaurant on the hotels property was incredibly delicious and there was a wide variety of options. Every day Yorvi would prepare a special meal for me and was always quick to help. Carmen Solano made sure I was able to visit all of the hotels restaurants and set up special dinning for me. The hotel is so spread out with the "private pools and buffets" they offer to different buildings that even thought it's huge - you feel like you have your own place on the compound. The beach was amazing! Clean, cared for and lots of shade for breaks. They were constantly working and cleaning the hotel while we were there. Cleaning the flamingo's pond, re-cementing a walkway, everything was always very clean. Lots of late night activities if that is your thing. Ample towels and cocktails.
Again, I was very nervous and anxious going into this trip not being confident I would have many options for food and if I was going to be helped and I was MORE then pleased. I sincerely miss Carmen and Yorvi, and would travel back to the resort just to spend time with them.

“fun vacation”

My family and I traveled to Be Live Punta Cana the week of January 16-23rd and had one of the best trips in a long time. This was my second trip to Punta Cana, and it was by far the best one! The resort was beautiful, and the rooms were gorgeous. We encountered a few problems with the service, but we had a great time overall.

The Animación team was definitely my favorite part of the trip. They always had so much energy and encouraged us to participate in dancing and games. Muchos besos para Spaghetty, Fonky, Minnie Mi, Coca Cola, Brad Pitt, DJ Papa, y Pechuga de las chicas de Grecia! We miss you guys so much!
The entire team made sure to always include everyone in the daily activities. Even when my cousins and I didn't want to participate, they always managed to get us up and going. Without them, I don't think our vacation would have been as much fun. They all love their jobs, and it definitely shows.

Even though we had some room/service troubles during the first couple of days, I wouldn't have traded my experience at Be Live with any other resort. I'm beyond happy that we chose to travel there for our vacation. It was a definite stress reliever and a blast!

“Very Nice Week at the be Live Grand Punta Cana”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

For those who wrote the negative reviews about this resort I personnaly cant understand how they could do so. First lets look at the bad reviews about the staff.
We were 18 persons at this resort and we found that the staff was very friendly and easy to understand. They were also very quick to help when we had any little concerns. The Dominican minute does not exist as this resort as far as we were concerned. When the safe wouldnt work they knocked on the door ten minutes after we called. I can relate many more examples. Im not fluant in spanish and i only have a vocabulairy of about 50 words but i had no problem being understood. Just be patient you are on their turf lean the lingo and stop expecting that they will know english.
The check in was slow as our rooms were not ready. Insted of complaining we just sat at the lobby and drank and had a good time. After about 2 hours they informed us that our rooms were ready and that we had been upgraded to the Bavaro side in the Cameleon Suites! Free Rum and all the fixings! So for those of you that go and have to wait wait sit down and have a drink and they will take care of you. It dosent pay to be rude and complain.
The food was great specialy the japanese!
The beach was nice!
The pools were clean!
The rooms were made very early!
The resort was clean!
Nobody got sick!
Nothing was stolen!
We were all well treated!
This is a good solid 4 to 41/2 star resort no doubt about it.
Take building 9 next to the beach, the aqua restaurant and the bar. Its the most versatyle building on the resort.

PS For those who post photos of cracks and little issues with the rooms im sure if you look around your own home you will probably find just as many inperfections!

“Be Live Grand Bavaro IS the Be Live Punta Cana!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I have to admit I was completely confused before I went. I could find LOTS of reviews about the Be Live Punta Cana, but none about the Grand Bavaro. Turns out, they're the exact same resort. The Be Live "Grand Bavaro" is just off to one side of the resort, but uses all the same amenities. We supposedly have "exclusive access" to the snake pool and the Aqua buffet, but I don't think there was anyone really keeping tabs on it, and the snake pool is in the shade for the majority of the day anyways due to how the building are positioned... but I digress...

The ROOM: was basic. Clean, air conditioned, and comfortable. A little bit of discoloration/paint peeling in the bathroom, but that is to be expected due to the high humidity levels and moisture. Housekeeping was great and always left us a huge pile of towels and extra bottles of water like we asked them to.

The FOOD: was very good. I had stayed at the Cataloinia Bavaro the year before, and I have to say, the buffet foods were better here. The "Brazilian" and "Italian" a-la-carte restaurants were excellent, but the "Japanese" and "American" could have been better. I did love the live music though!

The DRINKS: Delicious and Plentiful! I don't know why everyone rags on their "domestic" rum and beer. It's better than our rum and ten times better than American beer. The bf was addicted to a strawberry/coconut/rum concoction called "Miami Vice," and I couldn't get enough of the "Mai-Tai." Yum.

The BEACH: was beautiful and clean. The vendors did get to be a bit much, but there was security on patrol to shoo them away if needed. I also got my hair braided (its super long and thick) for $25, less than half of what they would charge you at the Resort Spa.

The POOLS: Were clean, and there were lots of them, but we spent our days on the beach.

The EXCURSIONS: Lots of variety. We ended up doing the "Dr. Fish Spa" as we were looking for something more relaxing as opposed to a party. Regardless of what you choose though, I suggest you go in the morning, the afternoon/sunset one was far too cold, but the massages were nice :)

OVERALL, I had an excellent week... The flight home on the other hand was a total mess, but of course that's no fault of the resort. I give the hotel and amenities a glowing 4 out of 5. I'd go back for sure.

Room Tip: we stayed in a regular room, but if you have the option to upgrade to a Junior Suite, DO IT! We saw...
