Because I appreciate the opportunity to stay at The Reserve in Punta Cana (and I think we all should) I am going to choose to focus on the positives of this great resort.

Strengths:

a. Pools. One of the pools meanders through the resort grounds making for lots of swimming opportunities without people all around you. Many times it was just my wife and I in the water. There was absolutely no problem in finding a pool lounge chair or bed.

b. Food: True they don’t spice it up with lots of flavour, but the choices and quality of food was very good. I had caviar for breakfast every morning at the buffet. I particularly liked the restaurant, AQUA for late night dining.

Grounds: Yes they are beautiful.

This resort made me feel like I was in St. Lucia which is the most tropical lush island I have traveled to in the Caribbean. There is not one thing negative I can say about this resort, when traveling you always have to keep an open mind....you're not at home. The food was fantastic and the resort was absolutely beautiful. All the restaurants are on the water with natural settings and wildlife. The room we had was the junior suite and we loved it with a jacuzzi on the balcony overlooking the end of the pool (room 2103). The pool is actually like a river with small islands. I would say this is not a touristy resort, beautiful relaxing spa like music played throughout even on the beaches....very tranquil. The main lobby in not far, restaurants located all in one area. Never have a problem getting a chair or bed on the beach. No drunken parties to keep you up late. Will definitely be back next year. Oh, don't forget the bug spray...but that is the price of traveling to beautiful locations!

A crew of 10 headed out to the Domincan for the first time for fun in the sun and bonding! The resort was excellent and service stellar! The first night we went to the lobby of the Reserve to enjoy a round of cocktails at a bar called H20! We were graced by amazing 5 Star service from a bartender named Luis! Luis was extremely warm and made us all feel like queens of the night! He mixed up fresh fruit cocktails for us each night with an award winning smile. We all felt he was the best bartender of the entire trip~ not only for the yummy cocktails but the sincere first class service! We continue to talk about Luis Cubano to this day! He truly made 10 ladies very happy and we look forward to seeing him again on another excursion to Paradisus Palma Real!! Thank you Luis!!!!!

This resort was wonderful. Made a timeshare exchange and was offered the stay at the Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real. I really did not know much about the resort but read all the reviews and decided to accept the exchange. We have traveled extensively and have stayed at many resorts but this one was beyond belief. We were treated like royalty at The Reserve. The staff could not do enough for us.Just to mention Hamlet Rosa at the breakfast buffet at the Gabi Restaurant. He always had a smile on his face and was very personable. On our last day he even wrapped up sandwiches so that we could eat on the plane. What a wonderful man. The staff at this resort is very courtesous always ending their sentences with "it is my pleasure". The grounds are impecable and every where you turn there is a pool and a bar. The short ride to the main resort is only a two minute ride on the golf cart and is quite enjoyable. At the main reception area at The Reserve you will be greeted by Gregorio de Jesus who is wonderful and calls everyone his family. He took us to the beach which is at the main resort which is just as wonderful. Best restaurans all around but we liked Aqua, Vento, Bano and Gabi Beach. The food is wonderful and never had a problem getting reservations as we were treated like VIP and had our own concerige who made all the reservations for us after we told them which restaurants we would like to try. Food is available 24 hours and our minfridge was well stocked. Everyday we would get a call in our room to make sure everything was good and if we needed anything. The unit we had was on the first floor (room 4307) and it was unbelievable. It had a kitchen (of course you never use it because of the all inclusive, but if you wanted to it was there), a living room, a private bedroom with a private dressing area with a jacuzzi and a double sink, a bathroom with another sink area with a shower stall the size of my garage. We had a patio outside the living room and another patio outside the bedroom with a jacuzzi on the patio with table and chairs, 2 lounge chairs, hut with a bed underneath it all very private with beautiful landscaping and shrubbery. I cannot say enough wounderful things about this resort and the staff. Worth every penny. Can't wait to go back.
