“Sweet Honeymoon Spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We booked our honeymoon through Triple A & Apple Vacations which was perfect because we were planning our wedding and didn't want to have to worry too much about that aspect of planning. This trip turned out to be one of the best vacations of our lives. The weather was perfect and all inclusive was the way to go. We didn't have to worry about money once we got there. Waking up early and finding a spot on the beach was essential if you wanted an umbrella. We typically woke up by 9am, put our towels on our chairs since that seemed to be the norm, ate breakfast and then headed back to our chairs. We also brought our own insulated drink containers which were perfect for getting our pina colada's from the bar that would stay cool while we relaxed on the beach. The resort had a sweet lazy river, but keep in mind it wasn't a powered moving lazy river, but still relaxing if you wanted to get away from the salt and sea weed of the ocean. Bring your own rafts if you can for the lazy river, they were about $20 in the gift shop.

The staff was incredible and quite attentive to our needs. Don't fall for the sales guys and their time share though. We got a nice gift package for listening to a pitch but they would not take no for an answer and it ended up being a lot longer than they said it would be. The resort had plenty of opportunities to do stretching on the beach, Zumba classes, beach volleyball, pool games, cigar making workshops, and movies at night on the beach. Me and my husband played beach volleyball just about everyday. The list goes on and on so there is always something to do.

You can choose to relax on the beach or by the pool. The pool has a fabulous bar and the nice thing about Secrets was it was adults only. You could go to the restaurants at Now Larimar next door which also had a casino and bowling alley if you wanted more entertainment. If you like to snorkel there really isn't much going on at the beach of the hotel. But you should still bring your own gear if you want to go on an excursion.

The excursions were really cool. The first excursion we went on was a half day snorkeling trip that was fun. There was a variety of fish that were beautiful and we got to swim with sting rays and nurse sharks. We suggest going to Saona Island on the catamaran. That was our second excursion and well worth the money. It was a magical trip and we highly recommend it! We got to stop in the middle of the Caribbean on the way back and there were a ton of star fish that we got to see with our snorkel gear.

If you want a relaxing vacation in a classy place we highly suggest Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana. We would definitely go back there again because it was an amazing vacation that we will never forget.

Apple vacations direct flight is the way to go if you can - it saved us from hours of standing waiting in airports! Remember in the Punta Cana airport their is VERY LIMITED shopping so dont think your gonna buy any gifts there. The ride to the resort is short and comfortable- greeted with cool towels and champagne yum yum- if thats not to your liking they have a bar in the lobby as well. Check in went smoothly and we were off to the beach in our bathing suits. The bars were great except they never seemed to have enough cold beer or enough of one kind - it seemed they always ran out of Corona, Coors Light or Miller Genuine Draft after a couple of hours. But the Presidente was never ending.
The beaches are beautiful, well kept with pleanty of chairs but they should invest in more beach tables. Reports of seaweed are true but if you walk down the beach it is very clear that they do an excellent job of keeping their beach front clean. The Barefoot Grill on the beach has great snacks - steak, chicken, ribs, salmon, hamburgers, french fries, kabobs, hot dogs, and zucchini with tables and waiter with choice of beverages. Plenty of large beach towels available daily.
The swim up pool has lots of easy access in/out of the water however the bathrooms were not real handy. Be sure to ask for Juan Carlos he is quite entertaining. A solid wall blocks your access from the swim up bar pool to the lazy river pool would be our only complaint. There are great areas along the main pool that have lounges/chairs/tables for sitting- some actually are in shallow water. Great for friends to get together out of the sun and play cards/games or just drink.
You can walk for miles up and down the beach. The white sand is very comfortable and the water is more beautiful than any of the pictures in any advertisement. About half mile either way you will find locals selling paintings, shells (you will not find any on the beach). The usual parasailing, bananna boats, scuba, snorkleing...of course there is the flying boat in the sky! A sight to see.
Dont bother going to the Ocena restaurant but if you do DO NOT get the crab cakes they tasted like fried alpo. Sea Side Grill was very good but avoid the mamawanna after dinner drink which made all but one of our group flush our systems out. The buffet has a great selection anytime which is were we went after the Oceana experience, On the Lamar Now side the Spice hibachi is always a great choice. The Bluewater grill has good steaks - the Capers is a must the food was delicious. We suggest the Spagetti Alfredo.
Entertainment : our group spent most of our time together but we all enjoyed the Disco late into the night. Stop by The La Habana Bar and say hello to Raul and Alexander they always recognized us as "my family" Gladys our river pool waitress kept our glasses full and always with a smile.
The hallway floors are always spotless and gleaming- the rooms are spotless - infact when we first got there we tracked dirt in from outside and within a minute or two someone was cleaning it up! Some resorts workmanship/quality leaves alot to be desired but not Royal Beach- our group agrees this was one of our favorite places to stay and we will be back.
PS the Rum, wine, beer, water and pop in your room is replensihed every day so drink up and enjoy!
As Alexander says SALUTE!

Room Tip: The swim up rooms are worth the extra money unless you can be guaranteed to get a first floor pool v...

We loved this resort. Here is why:

A staff that is very welcoming with the friendliest of faces.
Thanks immensely to Speedy, Blondie and Isaias for their daily mini-disco and dance and water aerobatics by the pool.

Amazing highlights--- Beautiful restaurants with fab view right by the ocean waves

Landscaping is very well done. Place is very clean, very spic and span

They have a lazy river style pool that turns and twists through resort with lots of little footbridges ... a fun swim up bar at the pool

Great Michael Jackson show every Saturday night. Done very professionally...lotsa fun

Ocean is only 100ft away with no seaweed. Very attentive beach service (refreshing your drinks) lots of chairs to laze in. We spent half our swim time in the ocean and half in the pool

Fabulous buffets with different themes nightly such as French, Italian, Chinese with extensive variety

Thanks Secrets Organization!!

“Spectacular”

My wife and I just returned from a fabulous stay at the Secrets Resort. It was one of the greatest vacations I have ever had. I am sure if I can accurately put how great my experience into words but I am going to try.
The entire resort and rooms are beautiful. We ate at many of the wonderful restaurants and loved every meal. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment and the Michael Jackson show was my wife's favorite. The beaches were clean and the cabanas were great. There was plenty to do but lots of quiet relaxing opportunities in which we especially took advantage. From a romantic dinner on the beach, to the great Superbowl experience on the beach it was all wonderful. Certainly the lovely property and beautiful country of the Dominican Republic made this a great trip but what really transformed this into a spectacular trip was the exceptional staff at your resort.
When we checked in we were greeted with a warm and genuine "Welcome home". While I have heard other resorts say this we learned throughout our week that Secrets truly stands behind this greeting. We have never been to a resort where every single staff member was helpful, accommodating and genuinely interested in our well being. From the bartenders to the housekeeping dept, from the security guard on the beach to the kitchen staff, everyone was great.
The rooms are great well furnished and they kept the mini bar fridge stocked at all times. The food was great with a lot of variety. We secured a private cabana with butler service which was money well spent. The employees here are awesome. We cannot wait to back again. Thank you to all of the management and staff who made this such a great vacation.

“Excellent resort . My favourite in Punta Cana”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

In january was my first visit to Secrets Royal Beach Adults only all inclusive Punta Can Resort and to resume the experience in one word " EXCELENTE " Not only because the staff working there and their smiles that made our stay more than peasant , also of all facilities , room , and Restaurants . Our arrival after a week travelliong around the country arrived at the time when we needed some relax and peace . The reception staff we,re attending to us with a welcome drink and all the explanation about the resort was given us by a concierge Steve who made the experience in that hotel very profitale because of all his explanations and tips . We arranged to book restaurants and plan our holidays in the resort at the max . Lunch at the sea front in a wonderfull terrace and a plenty choice of international and dominican food was more than good . We recomend the night restaurant Oceanna with the fish specialities , tune , ceviche , and ... try the desert as well . Our room was spacious , fully equiped , large bath with shower and a pleasnt surprice at the terrace , a lovely view over the swimming , pool and the beach ... and a jacuzzy at the terrace , where i recomend to use afternoon when the sun sets with some fruits just before to go to some of teh other restaurants and party nights . Restaurante Paris in Now larimar or the Asiatic one liked us very much , but if you only have one day I highly recomend the Seaside Grill Restuarant and from here y Thanks Jose the cheff for so good dinner we had there , in a nice restaurant with live trio music band who made that evening espcial . Others ordered a special romantic dinner for two with special service at the beach with looked very nice , but those days was a bit windy at night , so , we,ll do next time . Secrets is an adults only but has a super entertainment team leaded by Akon and Winnie and Miss Excelente who take care about the dances , musics , sports , cultural tallers , or.. just helping you with professionality . Is easy to find them around the Pool bar and they,ll invite you for sure to Aquagym or Salsa lessons or volleyball .... Drinks are very good and if you still don´t know the MamaJuana I recomend you to do it there . Walking the sandy beach up and down you find the caribic images all around the palm trees , hammocks , and people relaxing , hotels doing their entertainments and some local souvenirs sellers around and many beach and sea activities as snorkelling excursions ( recomended ) or others . Our stay deserved us another good thing and it was to reserve an Oasis for a day at the beach front where we had exclusive service with food and sushi and champange all time while having a relax in upper floor beds or shade downstairs .
Back to the reality and rutine i want to thank all staff and specialy to the manager mr Gonzalo Alcaraz and all his team for such a nice stay in Dominicana . We will come back soon .

Room Tip: Upper floors not so near the bars 4430 was a perfect location for us .
