We booked our honeymoon through Triple A & Apple Vacations which was perfect because we were planning our wedding and didn't want to have to worry too much about that aspect of planning. This trip turned out to be one of the best vacations of our lives. The weather was perfect and all inclusive was the way to go. We didn't have to worry about money once we got there. Waking up early and finding a spot on the beach was essential if you wanted an umbrella. We typically woke up by 9am, put our towels on our chairs since that seemed to be the norm, ate breakfast and then headed back to our chairs. We also brought our own insulated drink containers which were perfect for getting our pina colada's from the bar that would stay cool while we relaxed on the beach. The resort had a sweet lazy river, but keep in mind it wasn't a powered moving lazy river, but still relaxing if you wanted to get away from the salt and sea weed of the ocean. Bring your own rafts if you can for the lazy river, they were about $20 in the gift shop.
The staff was incredible and quite attentive to our needs. Don't fall for the sales guys and their time share though. We got a nice gift package for listening to a pitch but they would not take no for an answer and it ended up being a lot longer than they said it would be. The resort had plenty of opportunities to do stretching on the beach, Zumba classes, beach volleyball, pool games, cigar making workshops, and movies at night on the beach. Me and my husband played beach volleyball just about everyday. The list goes on and on so there is always something to do.
You can choose to relax on the beach or by the pool. The pool has a fabulous bar and the nice thing about Secrets was it was adults only. You could go to the restaurants at Now Larimar next door which also had a casino and bowling alley if you wanted more entertainment. If you like to snorkel there really isn't much going on at the beach of the hotel. But you should still bring your own gear if you want to go on an excursion.
The excursions were really cool. The first excursion we went on was a half day snorkeling trip that was fun. There was a variety of fish that were beautiful and we got to swim with sting rays and nurse sharks. We suggest going to Saona Island on the catamaran. That was our second excursion and well worth the money. It was a magical trip and we highly recommend it! We got to stop in the middle of the Caribbean on the way back and there were a ton of star fish that we got to see with our snorkel gear.
If you want a relaxing vacation in a classy place we highly suggest Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana. We would definitely go back there again because it was an amazing vacation that we will never forget.
