I am not going to complain about our 5 night stay at the Hard Rock in Punta Cana, I am not however, going to rave about it either. The room is extremely comfortable and the bed was perfect imo. I got some great nights sleep. We stayed in building 4 on the 3rd floor. To our suprise it had a little sliver of an ocean view (we weren't expecting any view at all). The location of our room was extremely convenient as it was very easy just to walk over the "catwalk" to the main building.
I found the resort credits easy to use, contrary to other reviewers complaints the most i had to wait was 15 minutes. We used our credits on spa, golf, moon-rocker tour, and the beach horseback riding.
The food was at times atrocious. I especially found breakfast buffets to be extremely lacking (with the exception of the omelet bar). The lunch served at eden pool was very good, unfortunately that was the only place we could recomend for lunch as the other buffets served at that time are disappointing as well. We ate at Zen and loved it so much we ate there twice. We also ate at the Brazilian steakhouse which was ok. And we at at toro i ordered the ribeye that was burnt on the outside and extremely uncooked on the inside. I would not personally recommend Toro but other guests that we talked to said they had a good experience there so maybe we went on a bad night. We also ate at the pizza place in the main lobby which was ok.
The casino is nice but no longer (to my understanding) serves free drinks unless you are gambling within. They will even stop you outside the entrance to prevent you from taking drinks inside the casino.
As for the excursions we definitely had a blast on all the ones we did. The moon rocker tour was a blast! The golf course is nice i rented my clubs there for 50 $ they were a decent set of callaways. I would not recomend buying balls in the pro shop if you can avoid it. They sell used ones for 3$ a ball. On the course gardeners and other workers will approach you and sell them at a deeply discounted rate. (The course extremely frowns upon this, but they shouldn't be pricing used balls that high anyway)
And the horse back riding was fun for a change of pace but not a "must do".
For the most part all of the employees were extremely friendly and attentive. We had no issues communicating.
I must say (as others have) this resort is massive. It can be extremely cumber sum to get around, at one point during our lounging around the pool i realized i left something in my room. I told my wife to sit there and relax while i went back to get it. What i thought was a quick run to the room and back ended up being approximately 1 half hour.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend anyone to this resort, but i wouldn't recommend not going here either. If the opportunity ever arises I could see myself giving this resort another chance.
