I stayed at this hotel in September 2011 while touring the Colonial City. It was contemporary, and clean with an elevator. There is a parking lot which you can valet if you'd like. One of the staff even washed my car! I thought there was a pool, but there isn't. If you want to be near the ocean, you'll have to go to Malecon. The price was very reasonable compared to other hotels in the area and there is free internet and continental breakfast. The restaurant and bar did not disappoint. The drinks were great, the food was prepared well, I felt like I was at a fancy restaurant. I recommend the shrimp meals. There is an outside area alongside the aprking lot if you like to eat outdoors. The staff was very friendly, everyone spoke English. The manager was attentive if you have a question or need help. The rooms were a little small, I stayed in 2 different rooms since I upgraded for a bigger room during my stay- which really wasn't much bigger at all. The difference was a space for a small table if you want to eat in the room. I never used room service. If you need a large room, this is not the hotel for you. There is a safe and you have to pay for the key. Not much but worth the peace of mind for your valuables. The bathroom was clean, it only had a stand up shower, but there were toiletries included and I had hot water whenever I showered. The bed was very comfortable, the hotel was properly air conditioned. The minibar was a bit comical, but it suits the purpose if you need a nightcap or a snack. I really liked the location. It was so close to the tourist sites, and many restaurants. There is a large square a few blocks down the street to the right when you exit the hotel. There are some very good restaurants there. I ate at Tambo twice and their ceviche is to die for! Around the corner is El Maison de Bari, a wonderful restaurant with good wine and great food! I loved the artists ambiance and sculptures. Julio, the nephew of the owner served the food and the owner of the art pieces gave his presentation. The food came out shortly after ordered. As for sightseeing, I paid a tour guide to take me to the sites I wanted to see. It cost $20 per person for the day and they will take you wheverever you want to go. I did a walking tour and he came with me in the car driving to the other popular sites which were farther away about 30 minutes. The guides have badges and they are knowledgeable about the history of the sites. I highly recommend the museum, and cultural center but it's all the way on the other side of the city and it closes around 5pm so go early. I would definitely return to this hotel. I loved the Colonial City. I felt safe walking around at night as well as the daytime.

“Good hotel, centric in the heart of Santo Domingo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

Stayed at this property for 1 night.

At arrival, they welcomed us with a glass of cider, which was a very nice touch.

Hotel is in a very touristy area, with easy walking to other attractions, like the Hard Rock Cafe, Segafredo, Museums, Plazoleta Espana, Parque Colon, Calle Las Damas, El Conde and El Alcazar.

Reserved 2 rooms and got exactly was i was waiting for. Rooms are small, yes, but they are clean and comfortable enough for a good night's sleep.

Had no problem at all. Elevetor fits only 3 people at most.

Shower had good hot water for my early morning bath. Hotel has a restaurant on site, a bar and 1 computer with free internet.

Breakfast was simple but good. The staff is very friendly.

Recommended to all since the price is very good for the Colonial Zone in Santo Domingo

Room Tip: Call ahead and make all your requests beforehand

“2 cm piece of metal in breakfast sausage.take this hotel...if u dare”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

first of all I have to say that the staff was very friendly and surely had the best intentions but there are things you just can not forgive.
small superior (haha!) hotel rooms with cheap decoration and outdated furniture at 129 us is ridiculous .i only paid 65 plus tax thru aa com but it is not even worth 29.99. tv sets from 1980 okay, whiskey at 8 us ,okay (the smallest bottles),noisy tourist (colombians and us americans)at 3 in the night slamming the doors.of course the cheapest ones..so you practically feel like having no door at all in the room.ahhh, safety boxes extra.(pretty shabby and miserable ,right???) ..even that is okay.... but that is subjective. okay. small rooms, like 120 sqft or 9 m2 (if at all!!!) ,tiny little bathroom with shower 2 foot by 2 foot, really !!! 60x60 cm !!! and an aircondition that made my girlfriend sick becaus e you can not direct the vent.
but okay.one can forgive this. what you can not forgive is the following:
i had breakfast today9/29/11 (last day in that hotel,i am writing this back home here in palmbeach,fl (thanks god i am back!!!) and had 3 of these small breakfast sausages and guess what i found and not swallowed !!! a metal nail, crooked 2 cm x 1 cm in an L shape.
i was really scared ,then annoyed and mad and made a scandal. how can this happen??? they apologized and everything but tell me....when your 5 year old kid swallos this,or you just eat it and gone....... you are dead. so how can i forgive this?? i made a report to politur police and filed a claim at the airport before the ministry of tourism.the number of the claim is sd pol 17823-00.in case you want to know more about it contact me in a couple of weeks! of course in a country like this nothing will change.in the us i would sue them back to the stone ages and file a million dollar case for attempted homicide but in that country...just forget about it and try to find a hotel which choses more carefully its products.just incredible, really !!!...so be careful when chosing this hotel. or at least dont have breakfast.without this incident i would have left 2 points ,but this is unforgiveable, really. not even one point. imagine...you have breakfast and cut your throat and stomach from the inside because a shabby litttle place does not check its food??? maybe to make some more profit? i guess you already got the point ...decide for yourself if you want to stay in a place like that.
as forrest gump would say....that is all i have to say about it.....
never ever again

Room Tip: get another hotel ! really. 129 us for a 120 sqft room is preposterous

“Fancy decoration.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

During a business trip in March 2011, I stayed in this "Boutique hotel" for one night.
The hotel is located in the colonial part of Santo Domingo.
As I arrived at about midnight and left the next day, I had no chance to dive into the culture of the colonial area.

Despite my late check-in, the receptionists were helpful; checkin was quick and the overall amosphere of this place was very familial.

The room size was just OK (some would say too small); cleanliness OK.

Breakfast was basic and OK - but nothing exciting.

The hotel had an interesting decoration; including in the rooms.
I assume, that´s why it´s called a "Boutique hotel".
Other than that: no pool; no gym...

There are plenty of dining options in easy walking distance; also the Hard-Rock Cafe.
