First of all if your looking for a kids club and nightly entertainment this isn't the place to go. The conquest brochure calls for it but it wasn't until we got there that they started to do something with the kids and some nightly entertainment. The grounds are equipped with kids activities for example putt putt golf course, water slide and a kids activities hut but they don't encourage the activities like some of the resorts in the Dominican Republic. You have to ask them to do something with them and then you run into a communication gap. Very few people speak the english language so they might find it difficult. The entertainment is encouraged at night time 1 hr prior to show time so the turn out is approximately 15-20 people tops. The entertainment needs support from the hotel for example, stage, props, advertisement, encouragement $$$$$ etc. I apologize if I relate it back to the Dominican resorts but their entertainment is incredible. Its like seeing the movie Grease and having a grade 2 class perform the movie. I explained to the manager of the Hotel that they need to invest some money in there entertainment. They need to bring some of these Hotel performers to other resorts and see how they perform. He told me that if I come back in a year I will see a difference? The food was great when we ordered from the menu. They don't have theme nights like other hotels so the buffet gets boring. The menu consists of 3 restaurants and there is no limit to how many times you can order from these menus which is great. The Hotel is definitely not a 5 star but a bottom 4 star. If you go bring a can of raid to spray around the doors, balcony doors etc. they have these tiny ants that are like specs all over the place. The weather is incredible not a cloud in the sky and hot. Make sure you bring the appropriate sun block because if you buy it there its $35 U.S. for a small tube. Canadian money is not exchanged at the hotel only U.S. You will have to take a cab ride into the city to a bank. Do not pay no more than 8000 pesos ( $4 U.S. ) to go to the city. The walled city is beautiful but expect to be swarmed by vendors. Just say "no gracias". If you want to buy from the vendors barder the hell out of them. The beach is patrolled by guards which makes it very safe. Only a handful of vendors are allowed on the private beach. The beach sand is not a soft sand but a packed one. The beach area is fairly clean and the Sea is ok.
