Ok i have written a review for a Barceló hotel in México, having in mind that this hotel is not a beach hotel i think that does'nt worth to compare each other...
Let's start with costumer service, well i it is awful, i travel because i do business abroad and i have travel to a lot of countries and stayed in alot of hotels, im used to lag between asking for something to the hotel staff and actually receiving it (call it room service, internet access, towels), here the lag was horrible at the point that i had to go to the front desk and stay there until i get the stuff.
when i arrived the room was clean, but after some days i noticed that the cleaning lady just made my bed and didnt change the towels or clean anything else, i stayed for 2 weeks and the first days i thought that may be the fridays or saturdays they would do the heavy cleanning but i was wrong, again i had to go to the front desk asking for someone to really clean my room.
Food has no pros and no cons is not expensive but is not impressive...
Finally i want to share the last 2 experiences on that hotel:
1.- After some nights, i woke up kinda scared because some one was trying to access to my room (thankfuly i had the lock on), i checked out side and there was a family out of my room, so i oppened the door and they got very surprised and apologize showing me that the front desk gave them my room ....
2.- As i have to take lunch to work i usually ask for a sandwich on the restourant, well , last time it took so long that i had to ask for a refund , they refused and i had to go to work without lunch and i didnt got my money back....
a final advice, i had tried a lot of hotels at Santo Domingo and a few at the beaches, as it would be expected the beach hotels have better service than the city hotels, so if you going to Dominican Republic for vacations, go straight to the beach...
i might sound a little picky on my reviews but at the end you are paying for service and value and if it doenst worth i think its better to skip it.
