Titiwi Inn was one of the highlights of our trip to Dominica. It was clean, affordable and within walking distance to all the activities of interest, aside from hiking excursions. The owners, Keith and J, made us feel completely at home and served as a wonderful resource to our many questions. Our room was spacious, had a private bathroom, air-conditioning and a balcony that overlooked the ocean. Aside from breakfast, we didn’t eat at the inn much so I can’t offer many comments on the quality of the meals, but certainly heard no complaints from the other patrons. I thought the prices were more than reasonable, but do keep in mind there is a fee for meals, drinks and other services like laundry or touring the island.
Since we had never stayed at a guesthouse before, my wife and I were slightly nervous. However, once Keith greeted us at the door, our fears evaporated. He took us in, introduced us to his wife, offered us a drink, showed us around and explained the meals and amenities. I actually found staying at a guest house to be better than staying at a hotel, not only because of the lower prices, but because it provided us with access to two knowledgeable and friendly locals who knew the highlights of the island. Since we're divers, he worked with the best dive shop on the island, AlDive, and arranged to have us picked up on dive days. When we wanted to explore the island and do some light hiking, he drove us around for three to four hours for the fair price of $35 per person. When we wanted to do some more strenuous hiking, he offered to help us find a guide (guides are a requirement on the island for tourists).
If you are like us and have never stayed at a guesthouse before, I would compare staying at Titiwi Inn to staying with a friend, who may or may not have some other friends over at the time. For us, it couldn't have been more perfect!
