I stayed with Pepper three weeks ago, and it was an amazing stay. Pepper is very accomodating and extremely helpful.
It was our first time to Dominica, and we didn't really know what to expect. Once we rendezvoused with Pepper we became instantly relaxed. Pepper showed us around the first day, and made sure that we had everything we needed before heading out to the Creole Festival.
We had only booked two days with Pepper, and within the first day we decided to stay with him the remainder of the week.
It's great being with Pepper, because everyone that knows him (and that's virtually everyone on the island) loves him. Everyone is welcoming in Dominica, but when you're with Pepper you feel as if you are from the island yourself. I consider Pepper a friend.
Pepper will give you many suggestions, a lot of his time, and if you're in need of something, he'll get it for you. If it's a power charger, a bottle opener, groceries, or a cell phone, he'll make it happen. He lent us a cell phone to use for no extra charges. SO GENEROUS.
Pepper showed us both the Cottage and the B&B, and they are both beautiful and comfortable. Nicer than most hotels in N. America.
Beyond that, Pepper is fun, hilarious, always happy and smiling, and he will show you to all the best spots on the island....not to mention he calls you "Doctor!"...that just feels nice.
Pepper is also very insightful with what's going on in Dominica. If one of your interests in travel is to get a pulse for the culture of the island, Pepper will help you with that. He will fill you in on history and current politics. I now listen to the local radio broadcast online after he suggested we listen to the island radio show.
If you're going to Dominica, you're visit will not be complete without Pepper.
**Note: If you have been to a mangrove in the U.S., I would opt out of the Indian River cruise.
