Exotica is the perfect base for several days on the carribean side of dominica. First, the owners, Athie and Fae, are the best hosts I have ever encountered. Athie is a real environmental activist Dominican historian, and graciously enlightens you with his treasure of knowledge. Fae is as kind a person as you will meet, and cooks as fine a meal as there is to be had on the island. Most of the food comes right from the gardens in front of you. You are either looking at the lush gardens or down at the vast Carribean. The individual units have great terraces, and well-appointed and very clean, and offer lots of privacy. You could stay here for the views or the food alone, but the best reason to come is Athie and Fae. Greg Jan 9

We spent 3 nights at Exotica cottages which we will never forget!
Driving up the dirtway through the rainforest was an indicator of the beautiful place of the cottages that should be revealed when we got there.
The hotel is owned by Fae and Athie, who are the best example of how Dominicans are: Helpful, friendly, passionate, giving and interested in their guests. Faes amazing cooking could not be exceeded at any restaurant on the island - furthermore everything was from her organic garden (mangos, bananas, pineapple, strawberrys, pomeracs, melons, salads etc.)
The cottage had a living room, kitchen, veranda and a big bedroom and nice bathroom. Large enough for a family. It was very nice to stay there and the view was spectacular. Ocean and rainforrest with exotic vegetation. We also saw fire flies, hummingbirds and lots of beautiful flowers.
The only minus is that you need to rent a car or arrange transport for getting there as it is 5 miles from Roseau. Except from that we can only give Exotica cottages our best recommendations.
