“Reasonable option for camping”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2010

We found this a convenient place from which to explore the central island. We wanted to camp out and we were not aware of other options for doing that in Dominica. There are some cabins up in trees that look kind of cool but they have tin roofs and, since it rains a lot, I don't expect it would be a good place to sleep.

The kitchen, toilet facilities, showers, etc. were very basic and the proprietor doesn't pretend otherwise. This is a very basic kind of place in a small country with a relatively pristine tropical environment. If you want to experience raw eco-friendly this is the place. If you want comfort, go somewhere else.

“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

I spent 2 weeks at 3 Rivers Dominica/Rosalie Forest Eco Lodge with my 16 year old son and we had a great time. The views from our rooms were phenomenal and the people that work at the lodge were truly delightful. My son hiked in the rain-forest above the lodge and even though he got lost and it rained, he truly enjoyed his hike and posted about it on Facebook. The owner, Jem Winston, invited us for dinner and made a sumptuous chicken curry using fresh papayas from the trees on the grounds. There was a grown donkey as well as a 6 months old donkey that were very friendly and tied out around the grounds to act as organic fertilizers and minimize the need to cut the grass. This lodge has put a lot into conducting their lodge as an "eco lodge". I recommend it to anybody if they want to experience nature and great people!

“One place you have to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2010

This definitly on place that you have to visit in you lifetime. There are severa waterfalls within walking distance. There are also beautiful and invigoration rivers nearby to take a dip in whenever you have the craving. The food is simply satisfying. They never serve the same thing, so you get a good variety of the local dishes made by a local cook. The staff are all very sweet and welcoming. There are several accommodations From small and intimate to group size. For the more rugged there are also tents. For the ones who would like to stay close to the dining area I suggest the cute little cabin. For the more adventurist i reccomend the tree houses. They are breathtaing. You truly feel like you are in a fairytale. For those who would like to go on more adventures, you don't have to go far by foot or by car. The island is small so journeys do not take too long. Go out and enjoy the beauty and the culture of the island. There is plenty out there. During your stay, there is nothing to worry about. They truly make you experience your vacation to the extreme.

“Wouldn't recommand it off-season”

This place might be nice when some attention is given to its cleanliness and upkeep of the premises, but that's not what we experienced with my girlfriend this summer. We slept in a tent, in the campsite up the hill, which would be a nice place for anyone who wants to take a break from the city life. Sure, in the Caribbean, august is very rainy, especially in the heights of Rosalie, and we were the only customers, but that does not excuse the dirtiness of the kitchen, the pair of underwear abandoned in the shower (once again we were the only ones in the camp...), the unserviceable lightbulbs in the forest, the campsite plastic covers which were obviously set in place a month ago or so and not fixed properly for the arrival of new people...
Actually we felt like we paid for camping with as much service as we would have had if we slept in the forest on our own, next to a nice riverside spot. I can imagine this place is excellent when Jem waits for a lot of tourists, but I wouldn't advise anybody to go there during the rainy season...

It is always regretful when a guest is not happy, and we do all we can to make ytour stay a foind and memorable one.

Although these were the only paying guests at the time, there was also a also staff volunteer living in, who was the owner of the clothes!

Our website clearly states that our power supply of renewable energy is limited, and when there is no power, candles and lamps are provided.
This did happen on this occasion.

We had recently exapnded the communal area, and the plastic referred to was in fact a new tarpaulin, as the need to expand the room was great, and the funds at the time were li ited.
It must also be said that the two guest paid a total of US$15 between them, and got showers, toiets, cooking facilties, internet access and office information, and food and bar service.
Whilst it is a shame the guest was unhappy, it is hardly fair to say that all thoise services are available on a public beach, simply not true.

We actively encourage feedback from our guests, both positve and negative, and if the client had experessed their concerns whilst here, we would have done our best to resolve any issues.

In future, please tell us if there is a problem,, and then judge yus on how we deal with it.

“perfect jungle getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 April 2009

I had a wonderful time at the Rosalie Forest Eco Lodge. The lodge is tucked away deep in the forest, surrounded by beautiful rivers and waterfalls. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and Jem, the owner, was helpful, available, and lovely to be around. The lodge is sustainable and eco-friendly, and offers many different accommodations. Meals were delicious and served by two very friendly cooks. I would recommend the Rosalie Lodge to anyone who loves nature and wants to get away from it all. And for all you outdoor explorers - there is plenty to explore!
