“Better than we expected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We spent one week in 2 bedrooms cottage and enjoyed it very much. It is not that much to be added to the previous comments: location is good, resort is nice and clean, staff is very friendly and helpful. Smali extras - free access to Jan Thiel beach and free bus tickets to city are very practical. It is possible to survive without renting a car for at least some part of your trip. Car is needed to visit more remote beaches and parks and there are several options to rent it near the hotel or just from reception. Internet kiosks and wireless internet is available as well.
Over all - Chogogo resort appeared to be even better than we expected. My impression was, that during our stay there most of the guests were Dutch. Many of them - families with small children. It made atmosphere there even more nice and friendly. I recommend Chogogo for nice and affordable vacation in Curacao!

“Simply Paradise!”

The reception, housekeeping, management and restaraunt staff are very friendly and informative. We received recommendations for many activites and nearby beaches. The restaraunt staff remembered our names and greeted us each day with a welcoming smile.
The bartenders make a special drink each day and I highly recommend trying it.

The on site restaraunt has delicious food, I especially enjoyed the surf and turf as well as the fresh tuna steak. We first tried the on site restaraunt because of the convenience, but we ate there several times during both stays for the delicious food, friendly staff and romantic ambience. Chogogo's restaraunt was one of the best we dined at; being our second visit to Chogogo we have tried many restaraunts and this is still on the top of the list!

The bungalow we stayed in had a beautiful veiw of the sea and Jan Theil beach. This was my second visit to Chogogo, the first visit we had a second story apartment with beautiful views of the flamingos and gorgeous sunsets. Each apartment/ bungalow has a well equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture on the lanai, air conditioning units that are very efficient/ cool quickly and the units are very clean. The pool area has both shady and sunny places to bask and relax and three different pools so that adults have a pool to swim in without children, and chilldren have a safe and shallow pool as well as a medium depth pool for play. Large Pool and beach towels are available at reception so you can save the bath towels.

We rented a car from the property both visits; the new cars were clean and mechanically sound; with the map provided upon check in we discovered the island! There is laundry facilities on site and a drying rack for wet swimsuits/ laundry etc in the unit.

Upon arrival you receive a beach pass so you can visit Jan Theil beach at no charge during your stay. Jan Theil Beach is a very short walk away, there are several restaraunts on the beach too, which are great for sticking close to home after a long day of adventure.

I have had an amazing experience each time I have stayed at Chogogo and I will definately return, I am planning my next vacation to Chogogo now!

“Very good hotel”

Good resort. Beautiful and clean! Provides free bus tickets and a free beach card. There is also a small bus that drives you to the supermarket and back (free). Staff is very kind and helpfull. Breakfast is expensive but good. Close to the beach. We had an air conditioning that was very cold while it stood on, but the windows don't have any glass. So when you turn it off it gets bloody hot within an hour. This is not so mucht fun while trying to sleep. They do provide you with a mozzy net.
It is a great resort for families with children.

Room Tip: Ask a room on a corner. they have much space.

“A great place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

Chogogo is a large, beautifully landscaped and maintained resort catering to an upscale Dutch clientele(not necessarily us). It’s located about 10 miles east of Williamsted in a high rent neighborhood on Jan Thiel Bay.
As it is not located directly on the water, don’t expect any grand oceanic vistas. You’ll have to settle for immaculate landscaping. Prices start at $135/night for a studio with a kitchenette. They also have duplexes and whole houses. Expect prices to be high in the winter and mid-summer “high” seasons.
The girls up front were VERY courteous, friendly, and helpful and went out of their way to help us with a couple of special requests.
The restaurant/bar has decent (if not slightly overpriced) food. The "bitterballen" are a must appetizer you have to try. We're more into local food and generally went out for meals if we didn't cook in the room.
We were there in July and the three pools were filled with families on mid-summer vacation. A bit noisy, but no big deal. There was room for all. Extra towels are available outside the office.
Jan Thiel Beach is just a 5 minute walk down the street and is shared by several other resorts as well as the general public (who pay a couple dollars to get in). Nice place, though not a "true beach" with sand right down to the water's edge as one might expect. There is a concrete break wall and a "launch area" instead. There’s a bar, restaurant, and a few shops to relieve you of your burdensome cash. One night a week(?), the beach hosts “Happy Hour” (as do many along the way) which made it a hassle to get past the sizable traffic jam to get up to the resort. A warning would have been nice.
One "problem" is that the A/C is tied to a motion sensor and timer that only allows it to run when it detects your presence. That doesn't really help on hot nights when you're asleep. But when presented with the problem, they explained that it's to prevent the A/C from being left on all day when guest go out(the studios have louvers only, not glass windows) and that they could by-pass the system if we promised to be sure to turn the unit off when we were away and keep the room buttoned up when the A/C was running. We did and they did. It was already done by the time we went back to our room. So it worked out fine.
Overall, it’s a great place to stay albeit a bit pricey for us. But as a splurge, it’s well worth it.

“Chogogo Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 April 2010

This resort has both apartments and bungalows. Both are normal sized. The area is located near the sea and beach. Hotel has his own restaurant where theme nights are arranged. Off course suggested to eat outside were you can taste the local dishes.
