We just returned from our second trip to this wonderful hotel. The Staff were wonderful as usual and the food was amazing as well. I really dont understand some of the review which complain about the food. There is so much variety and everything tastes great. A good example of this is breakfast, you have at least five choices on eggs alone (scrambled, fried, omelette, hard boiled, poached) and this is just the eggs! There is much to choose from. Cold Cuts, cereals, yogurt,many different types of bread and pastries, not to mention the fresh fruits. I also dont understand the comments about being short changed at the reception when you change your money, We have never been short changed in the two times we have been there. Perhaps people dont understand how the exchange rates work. While at the Blau my daughter celebrated her 16th birthday, I cannot tell you how special everybody made it for her, everybody was so nice it was just incredible. During our stay our daughter had lost her purse. (she had money, ipod, and expensive headphones in her bag) We went to the Customer service desk and asked for help. Not only was her bag returned to her but everything was still in there right down to the last penny, so when I read reviews that the maids steal or people get short changed, it's really hurtful. All in all, let me just say that we love the Blau, the staff, the food, the location, the rooms,.......everything. We will be back. We have nothing but good things to say. We also want to say a BIG thank you to everybody especially, Isa and Roberto for the returning guest dinner which was just amazing. We miss it already.

I was more than impressed with Blau - Great hotel, friendly staff and right on the golden sandy beach, Wow! Food was fine and the international restaurant was superb. Something for everyone and drinks service was excellent. If heading into Varadero town, save yourself some pesos and get the funky little train that runs every hour.

Along the peninsula of Varadero is a long strip of hotels and resorts, and not much else, with some lovely shallow beaches and clear blue warm waters, which are perfect for families or all-inclusive package holidays.

The Blau Varadero is located near the end of the strip, a large structure compared to others in the vicinity but still isolated. Since Varadero offers so little to see, its important to find a place that can cater to all needs on location.

Blau delivers with excellent room sizes and nice views if you get the ocean view rooms. If you get non ocean view rooms you'll be facing and getting the sun rays all day long, which may be bothersome to some.

A large pool, tennis courts, mini-golf, garden, outdoor pool bar, 2 a la carte restaurants, 2 buffet restaurants, 24 hour beach bar and snack bar, fitness rooms, jacuzzi and sauna, evening entertainment and inside bar in the large open lobby. After a couple of days this feels natural and routine, but a pleasant array of choices as menu's change daily with plenty of options of what to try next.

It does the job, clean and comfortable. If your staying in the higher floors, waiting for the lift/elevator may become a bit of a wait at peak times. An internet room with one PC is available, but no wifi.

Varadero isn't much more than a resort town, and Blau at least offers everything in one place without having to leave the resort or needing your wallet.

I was impressed with the Blau Hotel in Cuba. We heard the food was gonna be bland, we had no issues with the food, people , room, grounds or drinks. it was our first time to Cuba and we were very impressed. we were on the 7th floor ocean view. great view and watched the aquabics show from our balcony. unique design of hotel, very impressive. elevators were kewl but on busy times could take a while. Staff was friendly and i loved the Cuban Band that played at the hotel. awesome guys. i highly recommend this hotel. As Arnold would say I;LL BE BACK!
