Tried out a cheap trip to veradero and worked out great! If you want a fancy hotel with upgrades and wifi and marble trim you won't find it here, but if you're not picky and want a great exotic trip then this place will totally do it for you.
Beach: gorgeous. i couldnt get enough of the water, the sand was white and there were shells eveywhere. didn't experience any sand mites as i've heard from other reviewers and i was literally laying in the sand. sun all week long, theres lots of shade, beach it big and not crowded.
bars: beach bar was the best, they served tasty hot dogs on buns or bread or whatever they had (remember cuba has the trade embargo and doesnt have luxuries with food) the bread and buns here were so good, i got fat on this trip. they made westerns and hambugers and the ketchup and mustard was fine if you're not ocd about that type of thing. so tasty. great beer, the service was amazing the staff was so friendly. there are like 5 bars in this resort, so easy to get drinks.
rooms: pretty spacious, a tad outdated but i could care less, they were clean and had huge tubs and bidets! electronic safe with room key in closets, and if you tip or bring stuff liek razors, shampoos and things for the maids they give you extra towels, booze, waters, our even lefts us thank you notes. so sweet.
food: they had buffet dinners which i found to be very tasty regardless of what other say, its well known that if you want gourmet food, dont go to cuba, but they had fresh white fish grilling that was so tasty, and this huge bread area with loafs and buns, so amazing. tasty salads and veggies, and ice cream. the 2 things to stay away from are the pastas at the buffet and the pizza at the a la carte. the pasta at the a la carte was amazing, you picked all your ingredients and a chef fried it up at the end of the buffet line. they also had these ham and cheese sandwiches behind all the bars; to die for. ( i like bread)
night life: the shows were so great, very talented people. the entertainment staff worked all day with guests and were so friendly and fun. there was a disco most nights after the shows and a resort next door that had salsa music. the entertainment staff also took guests into town to bars, downtown veradero is safe and very quaint.
i loved my time at this hotel, it was clean, even though a few toilet seats and toilet paper were missing in the public bathrooms (not the rooms) it was still fine. if you're not super picky and can appreciate value, this resort is an amazing deal!
Room Tip: get ocean view if you can, its breathtaking.
