“Would return tomorrow if possible!”

I returned yesterday from Aguas Azules, and am pleased to report an excellent time. I encountered nothing but pleasant and helpful staff who provided assistance when I required it. I specifically spent some time examining the staff because of curiosities I had after reading some of the recent reviews and booking my trip. Cubans are lovely people. Its always possible for a person to mistake cultural differences as rudeness or apathy. The resort is clean and well-maintained, the pools are lovely, and my room was clean and efficient. I stayed in a bungalow, and thought it was well worth the minimal cost difference. It's important to remember you are not making a reservation at Raffles. Drinks -alcoholic and non, coffee and such are available in a number of areas, and you might even find someone to climb up and get you a coconut! The food was nice, with many fruits, vegetables, fresh bread, meats, soups, pastas, even some decent pizza. There was always some sort of a satisfying combination to be had at the buffets, and the a la carte restaurants are a pleasant change from the regular fare. Don't forget to make your reservations in advance - it's your responsibility. I felt that I was able to enjoy a mix of relaxation and dancing on the beach all night. I never felt disrupted by other travelers -accepting that its always possible to encounter some early morning revelers, and sometimes they're noisy. (But seriously, that could happen at your hotel room in Toronto...) I really enjoyed this trip, and I would definitely return to this resort, my friends and I discussed bringing our children next time as the fun stuff for kids looked great. The beach is stunning, and the drink and snack bar area are functional, and tropical, and really vacationny...It's a lovely place, and I would go back again tomorrow. Gracias Aguas Azules!

For less than a semester's worth of text books, 2 friends and I booked SunWing deals for a week at Aguas Azules. We were 3 tired and over worked university students looking for some sun, sand, and "cervezas" ! This resort was just what we were looking for. We paid attention to the reviews, and didn't try to kid ourselves into thinking we had booked rooms at the Rio. We did our homework, and went prepared.

The resort was everything you think it is: clean, but with a little dirt in the corners. Colourful, but with a little paint pealing here and there. This should only be taken as a reflection of the country's unique economic and societal condition, and not as a reflection of how your stay will be.

The people will warm right up to you if they see a smile on your face, and will bend over backwards for your happiness. We took full advantage of the daily activities offered: samba lessons, Spanish classes, beach volleyball tournaments, and free rentals of pedal-boats, to name a few. We met many other travelers young and old on the very first day, and attended dinner, the evening show, and the nightly disco dances together.

The cities of Veradero and Havana are reachable as day trips, if you even want to leave the beach. Delicious al e carte restaurants are on site if you want a change from the buffet meals. Impressive night life is also just down the street if the resort discotheque isn't bumpin that night.

For the money we spent, we got the sun, sand, and cervezas we ordered, not to mention the new friends, new dance moves, and new language skills it just so happened to include!

Room Tip: Keep a few $1 US bills in your pocket. After handing out a few of those babies to helpful staff, ser...

This was our second time in Aguas Azules, compare to the first it was a real nightmare.
The food in the two specialties restaurant was despicable it was all better in the buffet and not so good at all either.

On the second day we were there, a group of spanish student (100) invade the hotel and litteraly take it over.

They had absolutely no respect for anybody, yelling at night playing tam-tam in front of room, banging at door.

It was impossible to have service at the bar just by waiting they were litterally making a wall in front of it we had to sneak at the back or on the side waving big pesos to obtain a beverage.

We also had a water inflitration in the ceiling, ants in the bathroom.

I had a good memories of this hotel not it's all go away and i do not recommend this hotel to anybody.

Room Tip: Go for the room on the side of the road in the 2300-2200 those are the quieter! Or go for a Bungalow...

“Aguas Azules”

Hello,

I was one of the travelers in the group of students that went to Aguas Azules in January. I want to say that I’m really sorry if some of you we’re bothered by some of the students’s actions. Obviously, we chose a resort that is knowned for parties. I don’t think anyone intentionnally wanted to disrespect the other travelers that stayed at the resort. Again, I’m sorry on behalf of my group.

As you might of noticed, this resort is perfect for groups and youth that want to meet other people. You might not want to go there on your honeymoon.

Service : Front desk’s service is good, as well as animation and restaurants. Employees are kind. For animation, look for Oli, he’s the king of the resort.
4,5/5

Food : Staying at a 3 star hotel, we expected low quality food and honestly it wasn’t that bad. I wouldn’t eat that all year round but it was fine for a week. Restaurants « à la carte » we’re also fine. The italian restaurant was the best one. You have to expect o.k. food and nothing more.
2,5/5

Bars : there was not enough staff for the amount of people at the bar. It often took 5 minutes and more to be served. Like the rest, the quality was o.k., nothing fancy but did the job. For the price we paid, it was appropriate.
3,5/5

Rooms : they we’re o.k. The beds weren’t comfortable but rooms we’re clean. The shower heads we’re really weak, it made showering really annoying. The doors made a lot of noise and the walls are made of cartboard, this is part of the reason why other travelers might of been annoyed by us.
3/5

Beaches : they we’re really wonderful. Clear water, fine sand and no garbages. This is the nicest beach I’ve seen. With no rocks, swimming there was perfect.
5/5

General appreciation : good resort for the price. I would go back anytime with a group of friends. Jeep Safari, catamaran and scooba diving was awesome, definitely worth it. I recommend this reasort for low budget vacations.

“Great Time”

I had a fabulous time, the weather was perfect as usual. My first out-trip was to the Cuban Hospital. I tripped on a small step going to the washroom and cracked my head on the marble floor. Two male Canadian nurses came to my aid, they said i probably had a concussion. Hotel staff were very worried and called an ambulance.
I was treated with the best of care at the hospital. Hotel staff went out of thier way to ask if i was O.K. throughout the duration of our trip, it was very nice. Rooms very clean and tidy, staff was terrific the whole trip. Lots of fun in the sun, can't wai to go back.
