We started our holiday in Varadero - a chance to relax before travelling by bus around Cuba. We didn't want all inclusive experience and Hotel Pullman suited us perfectly. Location was really handy, close to local shops and restaurants/bars, and very close to a beach which was much emptier and peaceful than what we saw of the beaches outside the other hotels.

Service was adequate - we had a lovely breakfast every morning and staff were friendly. The room was dark, and though it wasn't room 124 mentioned by another reviewer, it had a broken spring sticking out of the mattress, which was ..pretty sore if you landed on it! We probably could have changed rooms but we were only there for 2 nights so didn't bother, the safe didn't work, which did make it harder for us to go swimming on the beach as there was only 2 of us and we didn't want to leave our money in the room as it was the beginning of the holiday, but for only 40 a night, it was great!

If you have the right attitude then its a good place to start a holiday! If you've already been travelling around cuba in Casas Particulares, it might be a step down!

I stayed here for one night. My entire stay was in Havana, but I had to spend the last night in Varadero as I had an early flight from Varadero. It's really basic. Staff were friendly and got me a reserved taxi for 5 am. I had a room at the back 124-- noisy as the windows have these shutters that are not sound proof at all, so all the noise of the barrio creeps in. The mattress had a sharp spring sticking out that actually punctured my poor bare butt! Ouch!
The place is ok if you just need a place to crash, but I would not make it a holiday destinaion.

Hotel had a good, central location, close to the town area and beach. Has it's own snack bar with state priced beer - cheap!
The room was ok, large, clean, bathroom nice. As mentioned in another review the door did have a glass panel, but mottled glass, so you couldn't see much. Had TV but no mini-bar.
Liked best - location, beer
Liked least - the receptionist got a call from a taxi for us, and without checking said we had gone, and sent our taxi away without us. I wasn't too impressed right then!

Would recomment if you need a cheap place to stay.

After reading the previous review from the other travelers, I don't know what to expect. However, when I saw it with my own eyes, this hotel is prefect for most people. It's clean, safe, central location, good service, cozy and comfortable.

I really don't understand what expectation people have. The hotel is only CAD $70 or (CUC$40) per night. It includes breakfast. It has cable TV and safe inside your room. It's clean. Hot water is hot (not like other places in cuba). The beach just across the street. You can walk to a lot of resturants. 4 blocks away from shopping centre. What more do you want for this price?

I will definitely stay in this hotel again. By the way, you almost got the whole beach yourself. Don't stay in the all inclusive. 300 people jam pack in their hotel front beach. You can smell the sweat from the guy sit next to you.
