Be forewarned, this resort caters to repeat customers! First timers are treated as if they are not expected to return.
We stayed there for 7 days in January 2012 and were VIP guests. The resort is run down and old, the building and grounds in need of maintenance and repair. Beds are hard as stone and a mattress topper a must if you can get one.
I had e-mailed 2 weeks before we traveled, asking for a 4th floor room. This wish was not granted so we were put on the 3rd floor. Because we were VIP, I expected to have one of the renovated rooms; NOT SO!
The bathroom was disgusting, rusty bathtub, ceiling tiles falling out/rusty. We asked to be moved but were told no. We spoke with one of the working staff and they said the 4th floor is only for repeat guests, so I'm assuming those are the renovated ones.
A very small buffet and seating area, with lineups to get in even though there was much larger buffet seating area they refused to open. Very few choices of edible food that was served cold/warm and was very repetitive. On the 5th day I only ate eggs, bread, cooked meat, and ice-cream.
NOTE: The outdoor grill chef uses the same spatula to put your food on your plate that he uses to flip the raw meat (pork, chicken)! I stood next to the grill and observed a tray of raw meat sitting in the sun un-covered with blowflies and green-bottle flies, doing what flies do, on the meat. I have an entomology background, trust me, I know what I'm talking about!
Enough of the bad, THE GOOD: The staff are excellent, the booze good, the beach awesome.
