we have returned from this beautiful hotel, all inclusive booked as a package. we were not disappointed, rated 3 star but acts like a five. clean, friendly, loads of facilities. loads of activities for adults and children to take part in.
room 517 has no seal on the patio therefore when the wind blows it sounded like a hurricane, but the reception staff changed rooms as quickly as possible, and we were happy in room 366.
entertainment - good for international audience, sometimes the dances were as good as watching strickly come dancing back home in UK,
5 bars, one 24 hour bar, wow, what a great atmosphere, the staff work hard and are happy to serve all round the clock. the cocktail list starts you off, but the staff can make any drink you ask for. we tried them all, the banana dakaree ( not sure how to spell it ) knocked me off the bar stool, great!!
rooms large, two queen size beds, sea view, clean, only time we had one creepy crawley was when we left the patio door open on an evening so our own fault, said creepy crawley easily picked up and dealt with.
food - plenty of choice. japaneese restaurant was our favourite for the food, and italian restarant had super red wine and the deco in the room was great, like stepping into italian mansion. the bar grill was good too, although my husband order grouper and said it was a little too salty, but he tried the grouper in the buffet the next night and it was ok.
it was chinese new year while we were at cuba, the hotel celebrated with chinese night in the buffet restaurant, sushi, freshly made stir fries, had to stand in a queue for it but it was worth it. one evening the desserts were extra special and a royal coach made out of sugar was the centre piece. we had champagne receptions at the buffet restaurant three times while we were at the bella costa.
one day on the beach the staff made paella and another we had suckling pig from the outdoor spit, with a bbq. yum yum, amazing we did not put more weight on.
the beach is combed every evening, please please tourists, use the litter bins provided.
and in the beach side lumnch time restaurant, please use the covers to cover the food, provided by the hotel, as otherwise the birds will eat the food and pass on germs. its up to the guests to keep safe.
i would definately go back to this hotel at this time of year, apparently, all uk guests go from may to september, but we prefer the canadians. great laugh and met some really nice people.
overnight stay to havana was well worth it, although the food in the occidental miramar hotel left much to be desired. the old cars are great. the bellamar caves at matansas are well worth a visit either on your own or on a trip.
go to cuba, before it changes - is my advise.
Room Tip: 366 is a good room but overlooks the stage, so if you have small children wanting to sleep before 10...
