“OK for a couple days - not a week !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

stJan 30th to Feb 2, 2012. I stay 3 nights and 4 days at this resort. This colonial hotel isthe oldest in Varadero, it's not a North American hotel standard, Everything is basic, furnitures, bathroom...but the rooms with a balconies at the second are nicer and Clean and air conditionning & water are working well. There no Internet connection, no phone in your room, and most of the travellers are South America or Russian...not canadians, europeens !

Food is OK not a lot of choice, but if you are not picky you will fine something you like. It's Cuban's food (congri rice, beef, pork, sometime chickens...with vegetables) and for deserts; fruits, cake and cookies every night and lunch! Breakfast are the best meals of the day with a cook who is cooking your eggs or an omellet for you.

Most of the personnel are really nice, animators are really friendly...I had 3 really good basic spanish lessons and the Night shows I saw were good !

The value of this resort is between 30-35$ CAN a day all inclusive ! This hotel is the first hotel in Varadereo...at 4-5 km from downtown, there no public transportation (red bus) So you have to take a taxi to go downtown.

I had a nice 4 days but my expectations were low, I was there by myself to rest...the beach is nice but has clean has other resort in Varadero, I went before. The pool was clean every morning. One hour after the shown around 11:00 PM the disco music stop...so people who want to party goes out and other ca go to sleep!

I have save on the resort, and I book one day in La Havana with the Sunwing Representant ( his name his Orlando, really nice !)

My opinion 3-4 days is OK ...if you go there to read, rest, but not more a week can be little long, because of the food, the resort is not well located & and not a lot of thing to do !

“A totally Disgusting Place. Will Never go again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

There is so much to say about this place. I must say I have travelled to Cuba 10 times and this is the worst hotel ever and I am not sure why as this is even listed on travel agency websites and its a package deal. From the service, to the rooms, the food, everything is so digusting and I suffered terrible flea bites all over my legs. I must have had at least 200 or more bites all over my legs. the dirtiness of the beach, and facilities, no running hot water for showers, it looks like the rooms haven't been thoroughly cleaned ever, Oh my it is disgusting. The food is so terrible and I cannot even believe I ate that stuff this week. All I stuck to is the bread, cucumbers and stuff. Everyday same stuff, and they put leftovers from the morning and lunch time for dinner, pasta in the morning. topsy turvy things. As soon as we arrived to our hotel, The lobby said it all for me, that this place is beyond filthy. Thank goodness we did not get sick on this trip. At night the bed made me itch even more and it felt like the flat sheets and everything has not been washed, and you can see the dust off the furniture in the rooms. That whole place needs to be demolished and a brand new hotel needs to come up. Its unacceptable. I had never said that I wanted to come home so badly ever. I am so disgusted and I will never ever go to this dump of a place again.

“You get what you pay for”

I just completed a 2 week stay in Cuba at the Oasis.Even though it is old and run down and in dire need of repair, our stay was comfortable. My only compaint of the food is that it is to repetitious.I dont want to have Papaya for the rest of the year.I commend the staff, they do a remarkable job working with little or nothing. My biggest complaint is the clientele this hotel attracts.People that expect 4 star service from a barely 2 star facility.I have never encountered such rude and so many rude and inconsiderate tourists in my life.I will say that tour companies should screen thier clients for attitude checks.Giving some people free booze turns them into boorish louts. How can you improve an image when you have to deal with pigs that treat staff like slaves or less. Also learn some of the language before you come or atleast bring a dictionary. How many languages should they know?Do you expect the staff to learn Russian as well?I am most disapointed with our Russian friends,I expected a bit of class. But you get what you pay for. Thanks to Oasis for doing thier best Rick from Edmonton

Room Tip: All the rooms are similar.Rooms from 120 to 130 are nice balcony rooms. If the hotel is not fully boo...

“Less than expected for 2 stars”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Jan 12th to 23rd 2012 . If you want to be on the outskirts of town, like speaking Russian, don't care what you eat, and want a cheap, "almost all-inclusive" vacation in the sun, then this is your place. Otherwise don't think twice about this Motel. ( That's not a "type O". The sign out front, that once had lettering on it, said Motel Oasis.)

My vacation was less than expected. My first room on the ground floor overlooked the loading dock and the garbage pick up area of the parking lot. The hallway was dark and damp. Needless to say I, and the other 2 people I came with all refused our rooms. All the other people that checked in at the same time as we did, checked out after seeing their rooms. We three, stuck it out, and got decent, spacious rooms later in the day. I didn't have great expectations for the food, but I did expect to be able to put my coffee in a cup, not a soup bowl, and I did expect to have a plate to put my food on. Tableware, sometimes seemed to be optional. The hot beverage machine never worked the entire stay. Although it did produce hot water regularly.

I fixed 3 toilets in the first 2 days of my stay, and my sink popped of the wall, and drain disconnected the first time I leaned on it. I was able to reattach it without incident. On the 4th day, I tipped the housekeeper 5 Pesos, after she put extra effort into the towel arrangement. That was the last time I saw my towels! Two days later I realized they probably weren't going to reappear so I searched some out for myself. ( The front desk tried, without timely success, to help.) I must comment on the fact that almost all the staff at the hotel were very, very pleasant. They were happy people who genuinely wanted to please. I really enjoyed the sun, sand, and snorkeling. .........and if that is all you are looking for, you will enjoy your stay.
I could go on with more negatives ,but I think you get the idea. Oh, I will say one more thing.....Do not go to the "Italian" specialty restaurant. It truly was the worse dining experience I have ever had.....in ANY country!
Just to end on a positive note......I'll say I felt very safe in this "Hotel", and singles can have their own room at no extra charge.

Room Tip: Stay away from the Main building. I stayed on the second level in 113. I recommend ( ....and I u...

“Not the worst but not the best....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

I was at this hotel in January 2012 and have mixed reviews...you get what you pay for in cuba....for this cheap vacation and knowing i would not be spending much time but for sleep at this hotel i wasn't expecting much and didn't get much....the beds were not bad compared to other locations in cuba....the hotel staff was not the friendliest and only spoke to me because my fiance speaks spanish and is cuban...we changed rooms because we were supposed to have a double bed but were given a room with three twins instead!! we didn't have bed bugs and the room was reasonable clean...the tv was a bit fuzzy and when you put it on channel 21 it turned off....there was no hot water most of the time....the food was actually good but there was no selection....as for the other hotel guests they were mostly from russia, they were rude and loud and there were several fights by the pool and bar area the police were called a couple of times which is not the fault of the hotel but rather the people who can't behave under the influence of alcohol....there were stray dogs everywhere about 8 looked like they live there on a regular basis...this isn't a problem except they barked in the middle of the night in the halls....the bar closed at 10 before the shows were even done....so it wasn't horrible but it wasn't the greatest either

Room Tip: get a room with a balcony
