Cons
. They accused me of stealing towels at check out, tried to charge me until I asked for the manager
. Midnight swimming is not allowed
. Not for party animals
. At times really poor lighting
. Far from the airport
. Watch out for the money exchange guy, he will keep your small change if you walk away too quickly
. If your younger and single you will not like this place
. Not really Any entertainment
. If your in the 100 rooms, there nasty and crabs and frogs get in your room when it rains, there were crabs everywhere in April.

I have been going to Sierra Mar since 1996.Spent 2 weeks there in March.Had an amazing trip.As always the staff was fantastic.Ernesto never changes.Still calls me his Canadian mom.Had a nice visit with Yordanis and his family.Had a fantastic birthday party at El Ranchon with lots of friends Barb&Kevin,Edna&Morris,Steve&Marie,Pete&Carole,Lisa.Special thanks to Anna&Vladamir.Missed Elizabeth because she is at Los Galeanoes.

Drive to the resort not the best but who cares once you are at the resort it is heaven.It will be repaired soon as they are working on it.They were still installing the new elevators.All the lawn chairs have new coverings.The resort was not full so you did not have to wait for drinks.The younger entertainers did a super Michael Jackson show.

Went to Aldolphos new restaurant just outside the resort called Oceano.Fantastic.Caesar put on a great show.Also went out on the paddle boats .Terrific view of the hotel from the water.

The resort needs a BIG PROMOTION to get people back there like it was 5 years ago.Someone needs to set up a reunion type of trip at the same time.

The food was great and had their cocoanut ice cream for the first time.You must try it.Another couple went with us for the their first time and loved the resort. My daughter,her husband and 5 month old baby also went and were treated like gold.Special thanks to Mercedes and Sandra .My son in law who is a picky eater and has been to other resorts in Cuba said Sierra Mar had the BEST FOOD .Rooms very clean .Service superb.

Hotel was good, but lack of intertainment. You need watershoes, reppelent(wood off). Not much to do... Sand flies, worms in a shouer after rain. But very friendly stuff, not bad coral reef for snorkeling

My husband and I went to Brisas for the the 3rd time. This time we stayed in March,me for 2 weeks,him for one week. Again we had a great time,the staff has really become like friends. The weather was perfect for me(30c).
We have become familiar with a lot of the long-termers,they are teaching us the tricks:) We also made friends with newcomers (Pierre) and others.
Having been to Cuba 13 times but also D.R , Jamaica and Mexico I have to say that the food is great. The service is also good. The more you smile the better service you get!!
I cannot imagine having to listen to a bunch of whiney spoiled Canadians everyday for 8-12 hours and still feel like being friendly to them. I have watched some of you!
This is a poor country, trust me the waiters and bar tenders can't do anything about the system. They feel lucky to have a job.
This time I was asked to cook with the executive and sous chefs at the Ecological Restaurant. It was great fun-thank you Sandra and Ramon for setting this up.
We also had dinner at Oceanos a few times,great food as always. We have become friends with Daylis and Adolpo, great people.I can honestly say that we have not had a bad meal there yet.
We are in the 40-50 year range and for us this is a great place. If you expect a fancy disco with a lot of young people you have come to the wrong place. Yes the beach is getting more narrow, but it is still very long! The bar is still there so what more do you need? A great place if you like water and shade at the same time. The sand is not white,who cares. Yes they have sand fleas, I found it the same in Varadero. Now I use Off when I go to the beach, make sure to use it at nite if the mosquitoes love you like they love me! I had my can stashed away at the lobby bar!
The road is an experience, the rooms are dated,but the view is great. You can rent a fridge if you need cold drinks. Sometimes the towels are not ready,bring your own if you worry.
The scooters are fun, just make sure you get a good one and that you have gas in it. Went horseback riding to the waterfall, yes it is very small but the ride was beautiful getting there.
Make your trip an experience, be happy you could be at work!
My husband like the massages, I have tried to get them to set up shop at a more romantic place rather than by the elevators!
